I went from 1.5hp pentair to this. This one is a little more powerful on full speed which is good as I felt the 1.5 was a little underpowered when running all the features in the pool.
Also going Variable made a big difference on my water quality and trash sinking to the bottom. Highly recommend and much better than paying 2k+ for a pentair. Of course I am capable of working on it myself, if I werent maybe the pentair is a better option. I got it set up so that I can swap back to my 1.5hp if I have an issue so that may be something to think about also when you are piping it up. It looks and feels like a quality unit. I had tried one from amazon just a random chinese brand and when I glued the pvc the fricking union that was included with the pump just melted. The fact that the pool store stocks parts for this model and they arent expensive is a huge plus.
