This thread reminds me I'm glad I don't have a pool.
A neighbor of ours has a pool. Their backyard is fenced in with a privacy fence, but their gate is in such disrepair, it stays open most all of the time. The only good thing about the situation is that you can't tell there's a pool in that yard, even if the gate is wide open, for the pool is hidden behind the house.

The house is in a dead end road with approximately 15 homes. I have the only pool. I plan to keep everything locked. The previous owner installed a new wooden fence and I’m gonna treat the fence as soon as I move in.
