really? name the areas in BR where this is happening?

I'm not putting stock into idiots that ignored mandatory evac warnings. How dumb do you have to be to stay in coastal LA with a hurricane bearing down?

You could describe basically any hurricane like that. It doesn't mean it wasn't a devastating storm. I mean, entire neighborhoods are underwater. People are having to be rescued. People have probably died. I don't understand the point of trying to minimize a hurricane. I also don't think this one was "overhyped". Evidently, it wasn't hyped enough for everyone in danger areas to evacuate. Now, they're having to be rescued by other people putting their lives at risk.

Was there a mandatory evac in Laplace where those neighborhoods flooded? Serious question.

think is this dipshit is putting words in my mouth. that was what most of us "down players" stated would be the extent in BR. Minimal tree damage and what you explained above. Now he wants to say that's what we predicted from Haiti to Tampa to BR to Houston

He has only speculated on the damage in BR. He never mentioned anything about NOLA or south of that.

my boy was telling me there's no levee or something in that area... I'm not too familiar with LaPlace.

No, there was not. Not even voluntary. Those neighborhoods have never flooded like this before, not even for Katrina.

He is.
The most severe claim I saw was comparing impact with Gustav. Which was more perfectly legit based on the data.

I am not saying that anything Will happen but we made it through Katrins ok .. it wss not till after it passed that we had issues.

He is correct. There is no levee protecting LaPlace from the Lakes. Everytime there is a storm some of these areas see flooding but not nearly this severe. If this had been a major hurricane following this track, most of LaPlace on the northern side of airline would be under water.

Yeah, I know a couple people who live out there that said they've never seen it like that before. Crazy.

Don't write off BR impact yet though....
We haven't gotten in the cone of TS force winds yet.

Didn't realize y'all were talking about BR and not the storm as a whole. I was never expecting a ton in BR, but the macho "stupid fricks over-preparing for a weak storm" mantra which is always beaten to death rubs me the wrong way. Being prepared is nothing to scoff at; I'd rather people take that approach than under-prepare.

nah only BR. I wouldn't stay on Grand Isle for a rain storm let alone a named one. In other news, apparently my apartment is built like shite because I see a wet spot on my ceiling and I'm on the first floor.

lost power in old metairie this morning around 10. hung out at the house until about 2:00 when the wife and i made an attempt at crossing the crescent city connection to the safety of the west bank only to retreat with our tails between our legs. made our second attempt with great success at 4:00. we are now at the wife's parents generator powered office in harvey having a party.

You in BR? I'm praying we don't lose power tonight off Brightside.
