Looks like Anthony Cook is ready to announce. Doesn't look good. All the CB are going to Texas. How is Texas pulling in this stacked class at DB. They are about to have another losing season

Where exactly are you seeing that he is ready?

ETA: NVM I see it on 247. Fwiw crystal balls have that surprise every year. Big cat Bryant last year, chidi okeke a few years back.

They're buying into the potential of the program and want to be a part of reviving UT.

Texas fans would be happy with a record over .500

Man, how times have changed.

Look at it this way. Over the next 4 years, who do you think has a brighter outlook?

Texas with Tom Herman or LSU with Eddie O?

Yes, I know the history of LSU putting DBs in the NFL, we all do, but Texas isn't so bad at that either.

Tough to fault a kid for wanting to bring glory back to the flagship university in his home state.

LSU with Ed O, obviously.

LSU takes top 10 talent out of Texas every, single, year.

Texas takes Louisiana kids that LSU doesn't press. Every, single, year.

Take off your burnt orange goggles, you'll see things much more clearly.

No purple and gold glasses on but if we are being honest LSU. Judging by sheer progression of the 20 freshman from the beginning of this season to right now, it could be scary how good this team can look if they continue to progress at the rate they are now.

Better question: why are you so convinced that Herman is anything more than Sumlin 2.0? His 1 good season at Houston? He hasn’t proven that he can build a program and his teams have looked like total dog shite for two years in a row. Aside from blind optimism I’ve never seen anything from Herman that’s led me to believe that he’ll eventually be a truly elite Saban, Meyer, etc. caliber coach like he’s been pumped up as

LSU had an interim head coach lock up a top 10 recruiting class and suffocate the Heisman winner in the bowl.

Even the Texas parents being recruited by LSU have said that they prefer Orgeron over Herman.

Put simply, Herman was a flash in the pan hire with hair plugs.

I don't have any burnt orange goggles, I went to LSU but live in Austin now and company has season tix so I go to most of the games here.

If you really believe LSU has a stronger outlook then good on you, but I don't feel good about where we're headed. I see a lot of 9-3 seasons on the horizon until leadership is changed from Joe on down to O.

O, without question. The amount of young talent on this team is scary.

QB development & Special Teams Coach is all that's missing.

So, explain the optimism for Herman

Same. Except I'm still a LSU fan.

I've been to several games also and noticed how the stadium has been half-empty and the only time it gets loud is when they show Matthew McConaughey on the big screen.

Charlie Strong had some great recruiting classes too, that worked out well.

Well yeah, no shite. The only reason Orgeron is anything more than a D-line coach is because he can recruit well, he's one in the best in the business in that regard. But where O has the advantage in that aspect, Herman more than make up for that with the X's and O's.

It's funny, y'all keep telling me I have blind optimism and orange-colored glasses, but how many of you were clammoring for Herman over O 12 months ago?

If LSU could trade coaches with Texas right now, they'd do it and thank God for the chance to do so.

As am I, I'm just trying to have an objective discussion here. The rest of your statement has nothing to do with what we've been talking about.

I, for one, never wanted LSU to hire a guy who's Houston team just lost to SMU and Navy.

Herman has ZERO connections in Louisiana and is trying to relate to Texas because he was a graduate assistant.

There's a reason why Dave Aranda told Herman no thanks when he tried to bring him to Austin.

Sorry?

Not as many as you might think. Most wanted Jimbo.

There is that "everybody wants to be us" Texas attitude we all love to poke fun at.

...except he's "a LSU fan"

And I'm with you - if it wasn't Jimbo, it was going to be Orgeron.

Texas fans act like since Herman's snake of an agent leveraged LSU interest to get Texas to hurry up and fire Strong that LSU offered him the job and he said "no thanks, Hook'em!!"
