Hicks can probably be converted to a OT just like Barksdale.

as a JUCO?

you mean "like carnell stewart" ?

What is the story on this kid?

Why did he end up at JUCO? and what was his scouting report coming out of HS?

Was he highly regarded then?

i'm not a recruiting guru, but if he's a DT and is in JUCO i'm willing to bet a lot of money it was b/c of grades

a 6-6 kid with a frame to get to 300 will get an offer from a 1A school if he has any athletic ability whatsoever

His pic looks like he is better suited for OT.

it's a little late in the game for a position swtich

and for everyone saying that's tall for a DT...there are a ton of 6-5 DTs in the NFL

if they can do it, we can do it

Didn't this already get covered in this thread??? I thought so........but to recap:
Hicks is more of a DE/DT hybrid. This does not alter McFarland's chances at all and I still feel really good about our chances.

Originally committed to play at FSU, but got hung up on the whole classroom bit.

I told you on the rant about 2 weeks ago that we were going to sign Hick's. According to my sources he is ready to play immediatly. We may still sign another JUCO DE. RJF is expected to go pro because he won't go to class and probably will not be elgible. My friend also says we are the favorite to get McFarland but the person recruiting him will not be coaching at LSU next year and this might hurt. If you know who coaches DL you know who will be FIRED!!

Slow, neither Barksdale nor Stewart were JUCOs. Both were recruited as DTs and converted to OTS because of their height. This is my comparison with Hicks. I am suggesting that they can experiment with him at OT and still have 2 years eligibility left and if he hasn't been RSed yet, he could redshirt next year and develop as a OT over the next 3 years.
