I actually think he'll play LG next to La'el. Read somewhere that they were playing at tackle though that's why I put him there. Most likely it will be Davenport and Washington fighting for the RT spot, should be a good competition

First the assumption by everyone is that 0 OL get lost when I just showed an attrition list of 11 or 12 in only 4 years that had 0 to do with the NFL draft. So good luck on those players being around in 2013...they haven't been that stable in the past...see the large list in an earlier post. Also, the point is NOT that a recruited OL has a better chance of being more useful than an established one...it is simply a matter of timing. And the more OL you sign, the better chance that SOME of them will pan out and SOME of them will stay. That is why IMO you also don't sign only 1 RB over a 2 year period. You want a steady stream of talent at every position if possible. If you want an example of what can happen if you don't, I refer you to the LBer signing class last season where LSU got in such dire straits they had to commit their signing class to 6 or 7 LBers. IMO, you should basically sign 1 person per position per year. You have 22 positions + special teams players and you have 25 spots essentially. You should sign basically 5 OL per class, 4 DL per class, etc. Of course, if you get out of whack, you end up with twice as many LBers signed as positions on the field. I AGREE with the LBers being signed but I wish it hadn't come to that. I do realize that LA had a bumper crop of LBers last year, but still...

Most of those guys were passed by better players, what would taking 1 more OL solve anyway?
That is a glass half full answer. Exactly how good were the players that passed them by. I don't remember LSU having a bunch of OL drafted in recent years. Ciron Black was not drafted....Will Blackwell was not drafted. Other than Herman Johnson, what LSU OL has been drafted of note in the last several years?

Regarding Safety.
We will be taking 3+ DBs next year and all will be big time players. Brown, Paris and Diarse's current Teammate (Jones) are ridiculously great. P&J are both Safety's. We will fix the DB situation in 14 but I agree we need a safety in this class. Also, jefferson is a CB no doubt. JMO

You and I agree on the safety need issue. Here is my #1 recruiting rule. Never assume a 1.75 years from now that a player will sign with LSU. He could get hurt...he could not be qualified....he could for some reason fall out with LSU, etc. You look at the future but don't base the future of your program on assuming TR FR are going to come in and "be big time players". That is the recipe for disaster IMO. That is why taking 1 RB in 2 years is very, very risky if they decide not to try to sign Adam Taylor IF he is healthy! I had not seen Jefferson listed anywhere as a CB but I'll take your word on that...doesn't matter since Jefferson isn't committed to LSU right now anyway.

I'm assuming we have 9 spots left
1) Tim Williams - DE - LA
2) Torrodney Prevot - DE - TX
3) Greg Gilmore - DT - NC
4) Scott Pagano - DT - HI
5) Ricky Seals-Jones - WR - TX
6) Melvin Jones - LB - LA
7) Rickey Jefferson - WR - LA
8) Rashard Robinson - CB - FL
9) DeSean Smith - TE - LA

Are you new to recruiting? You always try to work the numbers and you are always going after the top player instate early. We are holding out for fournette at rb, and to be honest, if he doesnt want to be at lsu, there will be plenty of talented backs that would love to come here. We prob take one if other guys fall off the board on signing day.

are you talking to me? I have been following recruiting hardcore for about 8 years, so no I'm not. Fournette is 2014 class btw.

I'm not a 2 TE guy since LSU each year signs at least one TE and for the life of me, they seem to be wasted scholarships. They even move guys to TE from WR and DL and STILL can't play
you're an idiot.. the TE position at LSU isn't made for guys who want to catch 50+ passes a year.. our tight ends are meant for blocking during the running game.. this isn't NCAA 2012 man, your TE doesn't have to have a 1000 yard year to be successful
