Not No
But Hell No
This is a guy who you would not want to move around. He's demonstrated head-to-head at elite nationwide camps that he is one of the best RBs there is - bar none.
He's better than Trent Richardson at this point. Why? Michael has roughly 2,500 yards and 45 TDs over the past two years on the always-tough Texas 5A level. Richardson, due to injury, has played in 7 games the past two years.
Doesn't mean that Richardson will be prone to injury in the future necessarily, but those numbers/facts speak a lot higher in favor of Michael.

I hear what you are saying, but the senior season hasn't even started for these kids. It's not like LSU is holding spots at the last witching hour.
It's very early in the (recruiting) game for this class and just as an overview, it's quite a luxury to have a class almost filled up - this early.
Very good point Clean. I think a bunch of us forget just how far away national signing day is. Many things can happen. As we see every year, eighteen year olds can be fickle and nothing is for certain until the ink is dry. It hasn't been unheard of a recruit accepting a scholarship just to hold a spot. Not that I think we have any that are doing that now, but I could see some of that in the future with Christine or Williams. Plus, sometimes kids just change their minds.

Clean why do you suppose LSU's staff still has TR #1 on their board? I agree with you what you say..I am sure TR is a compete stud....But CM is a complete stud as well and wants to come to LSU, TR has committed to Bama...I guess I don't understand the Recruiting game too well....This whole thing has me scratching my head....I know what I would do..I would be knocking on his door..
What is up with Mack Brown on this kid?
CM seems to be moving up on everyone board....Why is LSU seemingly sitting on their hands with him? it is a complete mystery to me...

I don't know, but maybe that has changed. No way of knowing for sure. My initial guess is that Richardson talks frequently with an LSU recruiter and that he (Richardson) has been telling the recruiter that he will switch his commit to LSU at some point.
Just a guess off the top of my head.
Back to Michael for a second. If his stats were coming anywhere but Texas 5A, then I wouldn't be playing them up so much. It's pretty well-established (at least in my head) that Texas has the best high school football in the country, and they play the game well over there in the "Triangle" where Michael resides.
Funny that Texas picked up Jamaal Charles from the same area but they didn't want this young man. Christine Michael is as good as Jamaal Charles at the same point in their career. No question

thats the only reason i could see this scenario playing out the way it has so far
same reason LSU has apparently back off of kevin Brent a bit(Loston)

The whole damned thing is making me nervous as hell. I think you have to be a little crazy to pass on a 5 star in hopes of signing a 5 star. I mean, is TR THAT much better? Worth the risk of getting neither?
If thats true, and Miles like TR so much better I guess I can understand. But damn. I'm just a little edgy about the whole deal.

I'm completely stumped. Obviously none of us are sitting in with the coaches to know what's going on, but one other point that I would make is that Trent Richardson is a very similar back to Michael Ford. With Christine Michael, you're getting a very angularly built back with excellent hands and really good feet. ETA: Admittedly I would say that Richardson has an edge on Ford in acceleration and possibly a slight edge in top-end speed... but similar in frame and running style.
I mean... it's sorta six in one hand, half a dozen in the other because if we end up with either Michael or Richardson (or Lacy for that matter), it's a great pick-up. But at least for me, after hearing Michael's comments (pro-LSU) and apparent humility, I've sorta become attached to the idea of having this kid's talent and attitude at LSU.

Oh yeah. No doubt. I'm thinking about myself here though.

Yeah I think he's secured the Fan's Choice Award at this point. What are the odds of getting Miles to lay bare all facts and opinions after decisions are finally made. Is it common for him to talk in detail about his thought process on a recruit?

If we seriously haven't offered him yet, we definitely should on his visit. This is getting stupid, Richardson is not coming here.

No. Most coaches are extremely tight-lipped about recruiting.

You're right. We will be okay. And from what everyone says on here Lache is a lock, which would definitely make losing these guys easier, but I hate to lost both because we are going so hard after one... especially since the one is already a soft verbal to Bama. Why not forget about the other guy and welcome the guy who wants to be here anyway?

I agree
Saban is probably among the best recruiters in all of college football, and I just don't see him letting a player like Richardson getting away from his grasp. To me, it seems like Michael would be our better option.

as the original post indicated, this is apparently no longer true. If he visits campus, all bets are off.
I see. That makes sense. With schollies at a premium, why offer someone you've only seen on tape and never had the chance to sit and chat with? I was under the impression he had visited before or at least met with the staff.
So I assume that Richardson has visited if he has an offer, correct?
