I am pretty sure Miles and Co. is aware of that. Because they think so highly of him they probably said hey if you want it the spot is yours. Just like another WR wanting Randles spot or another LB wanting Mingo's spot. It is not going to happen. Even if things change over the next few months LSU has told the kid when he was on top that we want you and even if the competition has stiffend they are not going back on their words.

Plus lets be real. TR is the #11 prospect in the country. How can you frown upon the coaches for wanting that. Do i think it is wise no. But there is no pressure on us to do whats right.

But 100% whole heartedly agree with you. I want CM and think we dont lose much. I am not an expert but I just dont see the difference enough not to accept someone who wants to be a Tiger. Maybe this was the reason why LSU coaches accepted 2 RB's and Calhoun for backup in case they lose out on both.

I think this has a lot to do with it...also sticking it to Saban and Bama by not letting them have TR.

I am just speculating...but we may never play against CM if he goes to aTm...we will see a lot of TR in our future. And on top of that, it is a direct jab at Bama to steal a verbal commit.

Perhaps, but in the end its all speculative. With that said, there has to be more than meets the eye here.

True but I dont want to get in a pissing contest with Saban to prove a point. We want to win games. Saban has to beat ULM , Miss St, and Auburn before he can start worring about us. CM is a good kid. I had the opportunity to meet him at the UT camp last year. He really loves LSU. He wanted this when we spoke. I dont know TR but he seems a bit arrogant. Extremely talented so a littel cockiness comes with being good.

Both have decommited but they have 2 unique situations. CM committed for 2 weeks then backed out. made his intenetions known that he wasnt ready yet. TR knew what he was doing and there was some confusion however we were on him hard at that point. Rumor has it he thought we backed off. It was some mix up with the way coaches can communicate with him and some coaches were still in contact showing more interest. But once he found out that was wrong he should have backed out and open the recruitment up again. Instead he is still committed to Bama. I think it is all about taking trips he will sign with Bama.

What high school superstar doesn't want to be in Death Valley when LSU plays host to #1 Georgia.

It will be the most electric game other than USC/Ohio St. and West Va/Aub

Even though we include CM in this class, I don't think it will effect Seastrunk's decision come 2010.
LS is a totally different type of back as compared to Michael/Ford/Pratt. LS also knows that his superior speed/vision/agility fits perfectly into Crowton's scheme (ala Super Trindon). He would also compliment the other backs to give CGC a very diverse backfield with essentially limitless options especially with the likes of Shep at the helm.

I agree with much of what you said, but look at it this way.

Lets just say they are equal in every way...we could take CM and face TR 4 years or we could take TR and not have to play against CM and in the process rip the heart out of Bama and its fans in the process.

The above scenario assuems that the coaches really have a good feeling about our chances with him despite his Bama commitment.

My opinion is that we should take CM and be done with it.

What you are saying about ripping the heart and the level of Competition for the SEC West is the key part. I agree 100% Plus we dont know whats being said behind close doors.

I would much rather take CM and have to face a tough Bama every year.

I don't disagree with LSU coaches for not wanting to play against that monster for 3 years, He will go pro after 3 I promise you. Look at what D. Mcfadden did at lets all be honest mediocre Arkansas team w/o a QB. Auburn went undefeated with Cadillac and Brown. The RB position owns the SEC IMHO. QB are second fiddle. We have won 2 BCS Chamopionships with Better than Average QBS. Last year The Heisman was the Leading rusher for his team.

So I do see LM point in showing conviction in the recruitment of TR.

You dont think that other game(WVvs Aub) will get some love?

I will tell you one that I look forward to. Kansas vs. So. Fla.They both came out of the ether last year but now its time to stand up or sit down.

I really dont understand why the staff wants Richardson more than Michael(at this point).

We already have two power-type backs in Pratt and Ford, so why take Richardson?

Man was i excited to read this thread. IMO Michael is a much better prospect than TR because the man loves lsu and that is what has made our players so great. they love the pure football and excitement that only death valley can provide. I think once the coaches see CM he will get his CO and get on board. From what i've read and heard, I think CM is going to become the better back just because he is humble and looking to get better, while TR is super arrogant

say this happens this year, only Michael has "delayed his decision" long enough that ALL of his second choices have tied up their schollies and he winds up at a middle of the conference school where he has second rate blockers, coaches, etc. You don't think that could affect his NFL stock? I think he'd harbor a little bitterness over being strung along. I would
If he's as good as Rivals says he is, he wont' end up at a second rate school. Even if he has to settle for aTm, and the kid is bitter towards LSU, LSU would have to do something out of the ordinary for it to seriously effect it's rep outside of CM's school/town.

This sounds great, but it's just silly. The list of great players just recently that in all likelihood would have gone elsewhere to their first choice if given the chance is a long one. I don't think anyone here thinks RJF is any less of a player at LSU than he'd be at Miami.
