I don't get it either. Bama fans have tried convincing me Ingram is better than Coffee, which I don't agree with.

I think Ingram will be better than Coffee with time. When he actually hit a hole hard, he ran better than Coffee. The problem is that it seemed that half the time he got tackled at the LOS.

Not much was asked of JPW, and not much will be asked of McElroy. I expect his stats to be extremely similar to JPW's, which to put it frankly would be mediocre.

Our offense wasn't lighting it up last year, and this year it will be fairly pedestrian. I still expect the same ratio of run to pass, but with less production. I will be happy with 28 or 29 points per game.

But you were an efficient offense last year. You utilized your tight-end to move the chains and you basically ran the ball down people's throats. Ingram is bigger, but with less break away speed. He isn't a homerun threat by any means and he gets caught up pretty easily at the line of scrimmage. Certainly he can continue to improve and rb is an easy position to put a young guy in for reps, which can certainly happen with TR.

My point is, the offense will be completely different. The quarterback will have to make more plays, because you don't have an experienced group around him. If you get similar play with McElroy as you had with JPW, your team is going to really struggle offensively because the supporting cast just isn't there right now. The offense lacks a second WR threat, and losing both Caldwell and Smith is a big blow, regardless of how well you've recruited.

Alabama does have an easy schedule, a good coach, and a good defense that should all help them vie for the West. But I really think that the offense has to be a lot better and you can't afford to just have another mediocre QB performance if you expect to end up winning the west.

no it won't. it will probably be exactly the same, just not as productive

I think we can win the West with a mediocre offense, but won't be able to go undefeated. I agree with most everything else you said TA

i told him yall are gonna really enjoy the year he plays for yall. i figure one year of red shirt or grey with no pt.then one year to play. after that i guess saban gives him the boot for the 50 incoming freshman. what a career. no wonder they stress academics so hard there.

It will be different in the sense that you will not have the dominant running game y'all were accustomed to this past season, which really helped with TOS and the lack of huge production from the quarterback play.

So of course the scheme will be the same, but I think y'all will even more limited in what you're able to do.

I think Terry Grant is going to try out at slot?

We have no use for a back such as Terry in our current scheme. If he wants to play, I imagine that's his only option.

The top 5 hype is unjust, IMO. But as far as the West is concerned, we are right in the thick of it, even if the main reason is b/c there isn't any team that is loaded top to bottom
no..the mean reason is that embarrassing schedule

You're exactly right... we do. Our running back situation will be fine. We have guys (Ingram, Richardson, Upchurch, Griffin, Marrow, Preyear, etc).... we'll be fine there.

The O=line is a big question... will Fluker be able to step right in?... Is Carpenter a starter? Will Drew Davis be able to hold down Left tackle if he has to? Who the frick ... will be our center?

Tell you one thing though.... It'll be HARD to score on Alabama this coming season. (No shite).

You better have a "jump pass" and 4 other options out of the backfield on every play or you're gonna get raped.

They've tried to explain to me that McElroy is going to be at least as good as JPW was, which can't be validated at all right now and what makes that even harder to imagine is the fact that they lose their TE, best offensive lineman, and starting running back. They return a receiver and that's it.

They will win with an easy schedule and good defense. But I really think that they have tons of question marks on the offensive side that haven't been worked out.

I'm really interested to hear about them in the spring.

I don't think most of the offense is in horrible shape. Still no proven number 2 guy. I think Maze and Smelley will do well. I think Trent will take Coffee's spot. I think the QB will do ok. The defense should be a bit better.

The offensive line... I have no clue. They've got a bit more depth maybe but they've lost their top 2 guys to the NFL. Carpenter should be ready to play right away. Fluker could maybe play inside or at right tackle? He might be too raw to play anywhere. I think the play of Carpenter coming from JUCO (I'm assuming) at LT will be the key for the season. Bama was really good last year moving the ball except for 2 games, Tulane and Utah. Both of those games Andre missed. If LT sucks, then the season sucks. If LT is good, I think they'll play alright.

as long as Donte Moss doesn't line up opposite, or any speed rushing DE for that matter, like say Rahim Alem or Greg Hardy.

Uhh, Utah pretty much exposed Bama's stout D. I'm sure some teams will find a way.
