West Monroe's defense has alot of growing up to do. Neville moved the ball pretty consistently in the jamb with running backs much smaller. Leesville will provide more of a threat than alot of district teams with all of that athleticism.
As far as Arledge shutting down other highly touted backs, he did so with more talent and more veterans than he has now. Should be good, but i believe Leesville will score some points. The big question will be whether or not Leesville will be able to slow down WM. West Monroe has more speed this year than the last couple of years. The offense will work even better if Abrams gets some snaps at fullback.
Either way, it should be interesting.

I thought Abrams ran much better out of the tailback position vs Neville. I think he runs better when he has more time to see the hole, but either way WM should put up alot of points. Our D is very good but they will give up some points to Leesville, but they are alot better than they looked against Neville.
Neville just ran a bunch of underneath routes and screen plays and WM didnt even try and adjust b/c we were still forcing them to punt.

The defensive coaches will tell you otherwise. WM had some problems with that formation.(getting the right people in the right places) In the long drive in the 1st half, three first downs were on that screen pass back to the weak side.
As far as Abrams, he is a better tailback, but the offense works better with him at FB.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. B/c I thought the offense ran better with Talton at f.b. and Abrams at T.B.
I talked to coach Osborne and he told me that they didnt try and adjust to Neville's scheme b/c they believed they were doing enough to win anyways.

quote:West Monroe is going to love that. They have two really good fullbacks in Talton and Sudiqqi(spelling and transfer from airline) along with Abrams running some FB. The running game will stay uptempo for WM seeing as how they have 5 good tailbacks (Ladarius Abrams, Teshadi Talton, Vincent Bell, Jerry Cooper, Deon Fowler) that break it long on any given play.
Linebackers are extremely inexperienced.

So you think T.O. really felt like the defense was doing enough when the score was 6-0 and Neville had just completed a 90 yd drive that consumed 10 minutes of a 15 minute first half.
OK...my bad

I was just going by what coach stone said.
In the jamboree, the offense worked better from the gun with a 1-back or empty. I was told that Abrams doesn't want to play FB though.

quote:Definitely not good for the D but it did give the offense to gather themselves and drive down the field for 6 twice (80 yard run by Banks but was called back on a holding call) the second a couple of nice passes to Adrian Manning (transfer from Northeast Baptist during spring training).

That was nice. If that combination gets it going this year...look out. Great compliment to the speed of Abrams and Banks.

EDIT: Cain on Opening Kickoff
