Good point about Corey Raymond, who has been a very good DB coach. Also, I believe he has retained that position before under previous coaching changes.
Also, as stated previously in this thread, McGlothern has on more than one occasion shown us why he was so highly rated out of high school.
If Flott returns and Raydar will establish a good work ethic and put on a few pounds, LSU will be stronger at DB than they are at other positions.

so really the question is what’s up with raymond and the lack of talent at a position he coaches these last few years
Well this is ridiculous.
At least six top-15 corners (247 composite) in the past 7 years:
2021 - Damarius McGhee (#13 CB)
2020 - Eli Ricks (#2 CB)
2019 - Derek Stingley (#1 CB)
2017 - Kary Vincent (#13 CB)
2016 - Kristian Fulton (#3 CB)
2015 - Kevin Toliver (#2 CB)
That’s without counting guys who transferred out:
2019 - Maurice Hampton (#14 CB, but played S)
2018 - Kelvin Joseph (#5 S, but played CB)
2016 - Saivion Smith (#5 CB)
The years we haven’t landed top 5 corners have been years when we’ve had multiple future NFL guys coming back with multiple talented young guys on the roster. You can’t get the top guys every year. It’s one thing to question whether it’s Raymond or LSU bringing in the talent. But it’s absurd to claim that we have had a “lack of talent for the past few years” at CB.
We should be able to get a top guy this year since there’s a pretty clear path to becoming a starter year 2 at the latest, but the coaching change/uncertainty makes it a lot more difficult.
