the proof is also in what miles has been able to do here rather then at okie state.

or look at spurrier at south carolina now. Now big tall fast recievers to throw to.

Matter of fact butch davis i would argue is better then all of them. He is doing it in NORTH CAROLINA.

the real question should be, WHO WOULD YOU RATHER PLAY FOR.

if your good enough the nfl will take care of itself, i don't care if your from southern miss.

Let's not crown Butch yet, though I think he's very good. The ACC is garbage and ripe for the taking right now. He's as/more competetent than any HC in that league, and could make some real noise the next few years. Of course, at the end of the day, it's still UNC.

The thing about the SEC is you can finish 10th in the nation in recruiting and still be 5th or 6th in the SEC. I know, because that's exactly what happened to us in Saban's first year (when he only had a month to recruit).

College football is about 70% having the horses, and 30% coaching/developing them.

i am just tired of people bashing miles saying he is a shity coach. He is so underrated it's not even funny. He had brain surgery, big deal if he can't speak well. His actions and the way he treats people is a model for all kids and adults alike to follow.

if anything the perception of miles is waaayyyy for damaging then miles himself. He is a great coach. So is saban.

No pissing contest, I actually agree with most of what dreaux posted. It was some of the guys before him I took issue with.

Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread, just had to respond to to the post by 756.

Back to the Rueben Randle talk..........

me too, me too.........

Yesterday it came out that he's not visiting Miami for sure. So it's just us, OK, Bama. Sounds like the Bama visit went well but they weren't blown away. I believe his father Emmitt said it was "nice" but they didn't find out much they didn't know before.

It does sound like both sides are starting to think he's LSU's to lose at this point. I think if we can remove all doubt from his mind this weekend, given his own words that he wants this to be over with as soon as possible, we MIGHT see some good news this next week. Now don't any of you hold me to that.

here's what he said:
quote:

“It was a good visit. Alabama is Alabama. We’ve been there before and every time they have shown us everything so we weren’t expecting anything new,” Randle’s father Emmitt Randle told Rivals.com. “He and Coach Saban talked a lot mostly about the same stuff they do every time they talk. Coach Saban has done a good job of letting Rueben know and understand completely what he expects from his players and how bad he wants him there.”

It is down to LSU, Bama & OU...
quote:

“He’s visiting LSU next weekend and that will be it for visits. I can tell you he is ready to get this behind him and so am I,” Emmitt Randle told Rivals.com. “If he knew he would probably go ahead and do it to be done with it. Oklahoma, Alabama and LSU are still the schools. Nothing has changed there. I’m not sure when he will announce or how.”

Thanks for the post from Emmitt and thanks for the link chinese. I'm gonna put that in the original post.

I'm pretty sure dmitch said he honestly had no clue but IF he did know where Rueben was leaning he (dmitch) didnt know.

I agree with DD that if RR visits this weekend with his folks, he will definitely be a Tiger.

Parents get blown away with the campus, the facilites and the learning center, not to mention Les Miles. Parents trust Miles with their kids, and they should. He is more than just a football coach, like Saban.

Between the campus, the learning center, the football facilities, and Saturday night at Tiger stadium, there reallly is no place like it in the world, and typically the recruits and the parents realize that.

The best part is that the facilites and the learning center are all part of what Saban helped to bring to LSU, and now it will hamper his abilities to recruit a kid away from LSU for quite some time.

Like I said a few posts ago............I really really like our chances if the visit goes well.

If we play our cards right and if you can take Randle at his word, we could very well get some great news next week.

Ya'll's thoughts?

My thoughts, just a "gut reaction" was when I read Mr. Randle's comment: "Alabmama is Alabama"...

just came off as being somewhat blah to me. Like they went on the visit to see if something would turn up and just "make a difference" in Rueben's thought processes. It didn't seem to. Kinda like, "nothing to see here, folks, just move on along" sort of comment to me.

Of course, I've spent more than my fair share of time in Tusc. and on that campus, so I really DON'T think there's that much to see!

here is a question.

what recruit in this class is the most hyped, high profile recruit????

and do you think this takes some of the luster off of his commitment???

I don't think he is the type to want the limelight and grab all the attention. But the fact is shepard is our prize recruit, and that is what randle would be at bama.

btw i think they are most definitley equal, and most fans will see that and no doubt both will be superstars here. But to overcome the hype of shepard would be imposible at this point. Maybe that could be a good thing.

I don't think Randle wants to be hyped. I think he's just trying to get the best fit for him. We're the ones hyping him.

Shep will be the most hyped and Randle could be the most prized. I think that's a potentially good situation for him if he were to come here.

i think moffits track record for developing players for the nfl is the ace in the hole as far as i am concerned. He should get before and after pics of recievers once they get here and when they leave.

lafell is a prime example, dude was a beanpole when he got here.

But Randle is not a beanpole...........I don't think he needs that sort of development.

He's almost a Julio clone with that size.

I think he just needs technical development (McCarthy). Just my opinion.
