Nevermind.........I just got confirmation too (prolly from the same place: TSD)

Seems they are coming in on their own dime, paying their own stay tonight until the official begins on Friday. Dandy Don was right about the 48 hour NCAA rule.

Well I'm just tickled at this info...........

WOW! This can't be anything but good. Don't see them dropping change just to make a showing at LSU, or to deliver bad news. This all seems positive enough to make an old, cynical gal like me nervous!

did you see my ponderings on the thread about that new article?

______________________________________

I was just left wondering why would a visit be "just for the parents"? And I'm torn. Either:

1. He doesn't want to go to bama, and his parents wanted him to do the stand up thing and tell saban to his face, and he wanted have their support when they told the little emperor no...

2. He likes it, and they were leaning "against" so he wanted to show them why that was his decision..

As a parent, I am leaning to the first option. If he LOVED bama, and was leaning towards going there, why would the trip be stated as being "for" the parents, and not for himself??

eta: also, how was it that he would "forget" to put bama in the short list. It's not like they didn't talk about the trip to gumpville, it wasn't some "unknown" or untouched topic in the interview. I seriously think Bama is out...

****crosses fingers and toes while knocking on wood******

Anyone want to go to their hotel room with me?

I'll bring the strippers, you bring the cash.

That for the parents could mean anything. Could be trying to sell them on what he already knows.

He was never quoted on his final 4 in that article, so its more than likely a mix up on the writer's part. Bama is not out of it.

Books, you know where I got it because you saw the same thread I did.

If we're being technical they might not be in town "right now" but are coming in today.

agreed.

I still believe it to be a three way run (LSU, OU, Bama)

I don't know how to take the parents thing momma. Had his mom been there before? I know his dad had.......

Yes, his dad has been there with him, and I don't know about the momma. My point is that he said this trip was "for my parents.." not just for "momma", which would have led me closer to thinking that he was leaning to the gumps, and wanted her to be comfortable with his decision. He said "parents", which makes me feel more like he didn't necessarily want to take this visit, but did it because they wanted him to for some reason. As a parent, I am just prone to think that kids usually do things "for" their parents, because they are asked or strongly expected to. I just don't feel like that trip sounds like it was sort of a "gift" that he had and wanted to share with them, more like something he was encouraged to do BY them. I am also thinking about the father's comments after the visit that weren't all that glowing, either.."Alabama is Alabama" and something about having been shown everything before so there was nothing new to talk about. I just all sounds much more like a business trip, and not like they were, to a person, very "happy".

Comments after this weekend will be VERY telling. If they are as subdued after this weekend with their words, then I will be willing to cast out all ideas that they aren't enthralled with bama and the short one..

but hearing that they are dropping their own money to get to Baton Rouge early already makes it seem like they are much more emotionally tied into this weekend.

Here's hoping!!

I can pretty much guarantee that if you're expecting glowing reports of his LSU visit this w/e, you'll be let down. They've kept things close to the vest and subdued on every update he's done, esp if it's coming from his father.

I'm afraid Books is right. Everyone will need to keep a level head on this one. Just because he doesn't glow about this weekend doesn't mean that he's not coming here.

Expect something like "We didn't see anything we haven't seen before, we'd already seen everything." If I were to guess this trip is mostly about becoming more familiar/comfortable with the players, coaches, program. Not necessarily about gathering new information.

well if he was coming here out of respect for his parents, i seriously doubt he would be staying 4 days.

I'm sure that is true.. but if Rueben comes home saying he only took THIS trip for his parents, and that there was nothing new to see or hear on the trip, then I will shake off the negative vibes I keep getting from the last trip to tuscalooser..

As I recall, not so long ago, he wasn't even going to take an official to LSU, and now he seems to have one to spare for Baton Rouge. I can't help but feel that may be in some small part that he really is tiring of the whole process, and didn't have anyone he'd consider before LSU that he wanted to spend that last offical with. That, and the fact that they're getting there early this weekend, just makes me think a little that they're trying to get "comfortable' with the travel concept to and from Baton Rouge. Sort of like "settling in" on the inevitable end to all the chaos.

just stayin' positive!!

People need to realize that Mr. Emmitt has done a great job of protecting Rueben through the whole process. They have their values and reasons for being so guarded close to the vest.

There is a family member on the Randles who goes to a specialist in North La. and that person requires medical treatment. This has been a variable that has gone unknown by the masses, and one of the two reasons why I feel extremely comfortable that Randle will be at LSU.

None of his comments have ever been VERY telling.

Neither have his fathers.

Hes going to be a Tiger, IMO.

The comments about Bama, his parents probably wanted to take a official to Bama, so he could compare it to LSU. Hes made up his mind he wanted to go to LSU but his parents wanted him to make sure, so he took a official to both. LSU getting the last visit between the two, plus staying for 4 days, 2 on their own dime. Very telling to me.

Just my 2 cents...
