we'll just have to take the wait and see aprroach... but i just cant see auburn being a VANDY or South Carolina type force in the SEC for years to come

To this day I don't think Meyer's spread offense is any more effective than other SEC offenses when they have a more average QB. Florida's offense is as awesome as it is due to Tebow. Without him in 2010, as much as they think Brantley is the second coming, Florida's offense won't be much better than the other best offenses in the SEC anymore IMO.

That would be a nice improvement for you guys right now.

Like Franklin's offense killin UGA at Troy but sucking arse at Auburn? That a good example?
u cant compare what was happening at Troy to what happen at Aub. Franklin and that offense didnt have a chance when Tub wouldnt let him bring in his staff
it was smash mouth football staff trying to teach the spread, and dude got fired 5 games into season. Franklin didnt have a chance

it all just depends
it doesn't have to be amazing. but it works nonetheless

So if the offense is strugging badly this year several games into the season what is stopping Malzahn from being canned?

that's not the point. All i hear on this board from lsu fans is how horrid Aub was last year. LSU has no room to talk about looking horrible last year
The difference is LSU knew their problems going into last season and knew their problems at the end of last season. QB and D-Coord. both have been addressed with drastic improvements. Aub. however cant even begin to explain why they loss so much last year. That is one long list of reasons. On top of that yall tossed one of the best coaches in the SEC for a Nobody. Ill give you some credit for the Coordinators yall hired, but it wont be enough.
The difference between ole Tubbs and Chizik is that Tubbs did a pretty good job with less talent where as I seriously doubt Chizik will have even that much success. Tubbs eventual downfall was that he lacked enough talent to sustain the success. Hands down. Chizik has less talent and less coaching ability. Yet yall are excited. Really. Well, at least yall are optimistic.

Didnt both of those schools go to a bowl game last year?

well, you can throw tubby under the bus all you want, and it is a valid point, but talent is why it failed
your talent hasn't improved nearly enough
now can this work over a 3-4 year developmental period? yes. can chizik last that long?

lol, you blamed the coaching the year before when you had Borges (who happened to do a DAMNED good job when you actually had talent), and now are blaming the coaching again I see.
Is it that difficult to see that you've had no playmakers on offense, and that was the problem? Or nothing special on the OL (actually you graduated your best OL this year anyway in Green)?

+1...Chizik now has to coach with just as little talent as Tubbs had. And Chizik will do it with less coaching ability.

U serious? this is a totally new coaching staff. What Tubs did to Franklin last year was low down and almost classless, imo

yea they both went bowling.....but im talking sec champonship apperances every now and then.... i just cant see us not being in it at least once a decade
Posted on 6/21/09 at 9:29 pm to tigerbill002
i mean it will take a few years to get in the #s
you can't just go from a power team to a finesse spread team in a year. not even 2.
and nobody better bring up UF. they were built for a shotgun offense under zook and had the pieces when meyer took over

it just depends on 2 things
1. how bad saban fricks shite up for local recruiting, and the ability to recruit GA and Fl like tubs
2. how long you give chizik to build something. if he's a failure, you may be fricked for a 3-5 year period

Sure, but it's going to take more than one or two years of recruiting to make up for Tubb's recruiting over the last two years.

unless you had a beast like tubs coaching them up

This entire thread consists of LSU fans blaming their defensive coaching for them being piss poor last year. And u flame on Auburn fans for saying coaching was the problem last year??

thats y i believe we'll be back because of this staff's recruting power.....that is the name of the game!
