This junk about keeping your commitment in the recruiting process is laughable. I read that Saban supposedly used this line with Sentimore to get him to stick with Alabama. Does anyone see the irony in this?

Some of you guys have the reading comprehesion skills of a gnat. I don't care if Saban comes after Louisiana players. Clearly, the only way that he knows how to win any kind of meaningful championship is to try and go after the best players, many of whom are from Louisiana and are already committed to LSU. That is fine. He's done that sense he's been there.
The problem is when a line is being used that tells a guy to have integrity and keep your commitment, when you don't or you are trying to turn others. Some say, "how do we know Saban said that?" That is what the Destrehan coach and Mr. X were telling DS at dinner. Does anyone think that Saban did not have a hand in that or was not in agreement with it? If so, you are very naïve.
I also have no problem with LSU trying to turn guys, ala Richardson. But, don't be a hypocrite and keep guys by saying that they lack integrity if they change their minds. Up until signing day, 18 year old kids have a right to change their minds. Good for them.
Let DS pick the school that he likes best. Everyone else should shelve the character assessments toward him. Saban's lack of character is well established, however, and at some point, these recruits will see it.

Saban is using this kid. He wants to land one that we supposedly wanted so he can claim the fence is coming down. He does not have scholarships to waste and knows this kid likely won't qualify. My guess (and this is only a guess) is that we came back with a late offer because it became apparent the kid would not qualify so Miles could sign another, know this kid would not count against his numbers and keep Saban from gaining any ground in La.

I don't know about the loyalty Saban has to this kid, but I will say this about the recruiting wars:
Saban isn't going after "every LSU" recruit because LSU is highly interested in the player -- he is going after them because they are blue chip players, he knows LA is a hotbed for talent, and with TN putting together the amazing recruiting team and Florida constantly landing the big names, Saban knows he's going to have to make some inroads into places OTHER than Alabama -- and that means LA will be on his list.
It's the way the game is played. Don't expect top LA prospects to NOT consider Alabama in the future. With the coaching staffs in the SEC, expect recruiting wars to go on.
With that said, BIG DAY tomorrow Tigers!

Saban, who has continued to try and turn Janzen Jackson and Kenny Bell, both COMMITMENTS to LSU.

And this is different than Miles going after Sentimore who COMMITTED to ALABAMA ???

No but you don't hear Miles lecturing HS coaches to honor commitments either... It's a 2 way street..
Until tomorrow, everything is fair game..dog eat dog world... but Saban lecturing on commitment is priceless
War! Terry Saban being committed to buying very expensive Cabinets!

Amen to that! That's why I can understand when a kid sticks to his "home" team. I mean that for both UA and LSU. As I see it, Saban is starting to see that he will have a more difficult time locking down Alabama with FSU, UT, UGA, and UF as his neighbors. He is looking to Louisiana as a possible "out of state" pipeline. That hasn't worked for him so far and we need to ensure that it doesn't start. Every year that passes puts him further from our minds for his accomplishments at LSU. He is our enemy (as far as football goes) and we need to remember that. He is probably just starting to get the "big picture" that his recruiting success is La was due to LSU more than himself. That's a hard pill to swallow for an ego maniac!

Amen to that AlaTiger...
What you people don't realize is that whether it's a fact or at least a substantiated opinion with or without a link posted, or just plain old hearsay, the thought of Saban preaching to anyone about commitment and integrity is downright is funny. And that's what the original post is about.

You "read that Saban supposedly.........." Yep, must be true then.
It's not a stretch. I've heard Bobby Petrino talk about "accountability, character, and principles" literally days after he left the Falcons in the middle of the season in recruiting efforts.

I dont give a shite what these kids do. They are 18 years old. If they come here great, love to have them. If they dont, they can go lose somewhere else with a coach that wont be there in 2 years anyway..thats fine too.
My problem is coaches who completely lack integrity, honesty, and commitment lecturing 18 year old kids day in and day out about things they know absolutely nothing about. (saban) When i make my comments, it has nothing to do with the kids. I know they dont know any better.

Boy you guys sure do get defensive when someone interrupts your attempt at an unadulterated Saban bash free-for-all by questioning the validity of "I read somewhere that Saban supposedly..."

The issue isn't with what saban did in recruiting Sentimore. Honoring your commitment IS honorable. The problem isn't that Satan wanted Sentimore to honor his commitment!!!! The problem is Satan has NO honor himself and is using honor as a way to keep a recruit.
Of course Satan is going to do that, nobody with half a brain would think otherwise. BUT it still makes Satan a hypocrite.

Let me get this straight. It's ok for him not to honor his commitment as long as he comes to LSU ?
