from texas rivals board:
"Some of you asked for updates on Craig Loston and Christine Michael, so we checked on both guys.
I was able to catch up with Michael via text message on Thursday afternoon and it really doesn’t sound like there’s anything going on there at all. He said he thought Texas had called but he wasn’t sure, and if they did he wasn’t sure who it was. Reading between the lines, it sounds like Michael’s comments earlier in the week that Texas was one of the schools that had called him while he’s away from home due to the hurricane could have been a case of mistaken identity on his part.
As for Craig Loston, we checked with a couple different people and there are some mixed signals on whether or not he might take a visit to Texas this weekend. Teammate, and current UT commit Greg Timmons, said he thought Loston was going to attend the game against Rice and possibly the Arkansas game, but he wasn’t sure. Other sources indicated that Loston was not going to Austin and if he did show, it would be a bit of a surprise.
For his part, Timmons is not coming in, but he will be in Austin next week when the Horns host Arkansas.
Everyone wants to know which way Loston might be leaning, but even his closest friends don’t seem to know. Russell Shepard told me this week he believes LSU has the inside track, but Timmons said it’s still up in the air. One thing’s for sure, Clemson, the school to which Loston is currently listed as a commitment, is all but out of the equation.
“To be honest with you, Clemson's out the door. I'll tell you that,” Timmons said. “But he doesn't really talk too much about. I still work on him about Texas. I tell him he’ll still be close to home in case emergencies come and Texas is going to take care of you. I see him wearing a lot of LSU stuff and I see him wearing a lot of Texas stuff.” (JS)
******
Speaking of Russell Shepard, we checked with the dual-threat QB this week to see if he’s heard anything from Texas. The last time we talked to Shepard, a little more than one month ago, he mentioned that he remains in touch with the Texas staff and he had put in a call to Major Applewhite. Since that time, things have been very quiet.
“I haven't talked to them,” Shepard said. “Really, I haven't heard from anyone. My phone's been dead.”
Though the contact has been limited (or non-existent), Shepard maintained that he’d like to get up to Austin to see a game if the schedule works out.
“If we have an open week, I’d still love to go there to see a game. With this hurricane, our schedule’s messed up so I'm going to see how it goes,” Shepard said. “But if I have an open week and Craig (Loston) and Greg (Timmons and them are going up there, I’d go for sure.”
We’ll keep our ears open on this one, but it’s looking unlikely that anything will happen between Shepard and Texas." (JS)

Great, great post.....but, what about McFarland? Anyone hearing anything? I guess with Ike a lot of the TX kids aren't playing and/or talking. There's more important things than football going on sometimes. That being said, I think the criicism of LSU playing last week was unfounded. Sorry for the thread hijacking!!!
