Neither..

a good coach would not have used all three time outs in the third quarter
I might be wrong but I thought players can call timeout. Or maybe you would rather have negative plays or a penalty when THE PLAYERS are somewhat understandably confused?

Get a clue, this is not totally in the HC control.

rowanspadre, let me give you a few Les Miles statistics since he has been at LSU to hopefully show you that he is a great coach, He is THE ONLY coach, and yes this includes the "great coach" we played on Saturday, at LSU to beat Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and Auburn in the same year, and he did it 2 times. He, before this season, is 14-6 in games decided by 8 points or less, these are those games you were talking about that come down to good coaches making good calls. That winning percentage makes him one of the best in those games. He has NEVER lost an out of conference game, including bowl game, in his entire stay at LSU and that includes wins against Virginia tech, Arizona State, Washington (a team that beat USC this year) Miami (when they were still a little legitimate), Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. That is something that Little Nicky can't even boast about while he has been at Alabama. I really can't believe you equate good coaching to looking intense on the side lines, there are many coaches that have had great GREAT success not looking intense on the side lines. Do i think he needs to get a little bit more excited? Yes i do, but its not something that i think has hurt our team at all. You really need to stop this ridiculous obsession of Nick Saban. I wonder what you will say if Alabama goes into the SECCG and gets killed by Florida. That will be 2 years in a row that he failed to deliver when it mattered. Because last time i checked, when Les was given the chance to play for the title in the SECCG, he won.

OK, so you're post spends hundreds of words "proving" miles is not a great coach because he doesn't throw his headset.

Hey Rowanspadre, your that little man you are so in love with has been a head coach for 20 YEARS. In the first 19 he has won EXACTLY ONE NC. ONE! If you think this year is going to end with Alabama beating FLorida and Texas back to back to win a NC this year all I can say is I hope you don't get caught doing whatever drugs you're doing. That means when this year is finished there will be about 17 or 18 OTHER coaches who have won National championships...and as unbelievable as you might find it, there are surprisingly few "headphone throwers and screamers" in the bunch. I know this goes against everything that you know in that little brain of yours but try to fit in a rational thought every now and then...you might like how it feels.

I will preface my comments by saying that I have always liked coach Miles and I think he represents LSU with complete class. But with respect to your comments about talent on LSU's team I have to say that I agree with you that y'all are an extremely talented football team.

All of that being said, this is my comment.

I think Saban could take LSU's team and beat Alabama with those players.

I doubt Miles far less after yesterday's game. He had the team ready, and we might have won that game.

I never saw Tom Landry pull those antics or even Bear Bryant. That is not a great coach. That's a narcisstic egomaniac that should be penalized for those antics.

Great point. I heard a joke last night while we all had after game dinner at ACME.
How does nick the midget screw in a light bulb?

He holds it up and waits for the world to revolve around it.

Yea yea, that old chesnut has been around since the flying wedge. Try something new and hopefully not as stupid.

You seem to be a big fan of flying headsets. I disagree with the 2-pt conversion call, but otherwise I dont blame Miles for this. LSU came to play, battled hard throughout, and was the victim of injuries and cramps more than anything. Those things happen and no amount of headset tossing was going to make Peterson's cramps go away. Our offense still isnt wonderful and maybe Crowton needs to go, but did you want Miles to fire Crowton mid season?

To all of you "Miles Haters" - you must not know and understand the game of football. Les Miles is an SEC caliber coach. He doesn't rant and acts like a kid when things doesn't go his way like a Saban or a Spurrier, because he is a classy coach that respects his players, understands the game and doesn't put on a show for fans that don't understand either. To you - Les Miles -

Oh jeez... Dude! That was said about Bear Bryant how many years ago? So you are gonna compare Saban's first 19 years of head coaching to the Bear? Come on dude, thought you were better than that. Let the Bear rest in peace and come back to the present.

Miles has to learn to put the right players in the game at the right time. We are also too predictable on offense.

None of that has anything to do with throwing headsets like an undisciplined child.
I could care less if he throws his headset, his visor, his clipboard, his LSU hat. What I'm talking about is what we don't see. INTENSITY. Spurrier is no longer the cutting edge of great coaching so he's not an example today. But Meyer, Saban and a couple others are. And they show intensity. It's that lack that leads to clock management, substitution, lining up problems. It looks to me like all this is just afterthought at practice. So on the field...?

Throwing your headset only means you got a type A personality, probably have issues with road rage and isn't good for the ole ticker. Doesn't make you're successful. There are many calm coaches on the sidelines that are successful.

Here we go again....

I'm just gonna copy and paste this post for every dumbass Les Miles thread.

Here we go again. We lose to the #3 team in the country and the "Fire Les Miles" people come out. You ignorant people act like we go 11-1 or 12-0 every f_cking year. Let me educate you. We haven't had less than two losses but twice in the last 40 years. This isn't a "down" year, and this isn't a "down" era for LSU. Name an LSU coach with a better record?
