I got one:

Thanks for the assessment-I agree-LSU does not look like the National PowerHouse it can be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Weems said it best as posted earlier in the thread. This was from Tony Falterman.

i sent in the following email:

Thank you for representing our District on the LSU Board of Supervisors.

This is the first time I write you. I know the past two years dealing with budget cuts have been difficult, but I am compelled to write you regarding the performance of our football program in the past two seasons.

I am a 1990 graduate of LSU. I support the alumni group and TAF. I will continue to do so regardless of the performance of the football team. I am not threatening to not support LSU in anyway. I have concerns about the direction of the football program and you are the representatives of our district, so I am contacting you in the hopes that perhaps you might provide some answers. If I have contacted the wrong person for this, please reply with the appropriate contact person. I have copied General Richard of TAF on this email, also.

The LSU football program in the 2000-2007 time frame fostered much pride in its alumni base and much of the state of Louisiana. The 2008 and 2009 seasons have seen a decline in the success of the program. Most troubling is the recent bowl loss to Penn State. This bowl game was a microcosm of the 2009 season and showed zero improvement from the regular season. The field conditions were deplorable – but both teams needed to deal with those conditions.

LSU’s offense this year has been terrible. The defense was an improvement over the prior year, but could not generate pressure on the opposing quarterback and could not get off the field and allowed opposing teams far too large an advantage in terms of time of possession. The offense could not run the ball effectively or efficiently, even when all the backs were in good health. LSU’s offensive ranking was near the bottom in the FBS of the NCAA.

To sum up my feelings – LSU football has become far less enjoyable. One more season like this and we will have squandered the national prominence that was built over the past decade. The risk is to become a program on the outside looking in – like an Ole Miss or Arkansas – as opposed to a dominant contender year- in and year-out. Fortunes can change quickly. I understand Miles has had a significant hand in building the program, but his fingerprints are also all over the decline we have experienced in the past 2 seasons. With the credit he deserved for winning a national championship, he needs to be accountable for the decline that has been in place for the last 2 seasons.

Miles has stated on numerous occasions this season that “we need to get it fixed” – to no avail. Nothing got fixed. Nothing improved. The offense that took the field versus Washington in game 1 showed the same lack of consistency and reliance on the big play as the offense that took the field against Penn State. What does that say about the direction of the program?

I am hoping that last season’s blow out win over GA Tech foretold about as much about the 2009 season as the Penn State loss will foretell about the 2010 season. I am hoping the obvious talent LSU and Miles has stockpiled and underutilized in the past 2 seasons will prove to be great players for LSU. But nothing I have seen in 2008 and 2009 should give me that confidence. What those seasons have told me is that the current coaching staff has simply lost the ability to become inventive and innovative and has become in large part incompetent – unable to capitalize on the talents of the young men in their charge. We are getting this performance at great cost in terms of their salaries.

Simply put – the big money these guys make needs to make them more accountable, as opposed to unquestioned.

I know there is no getting Saban back. But early in the year, when Miles was talking about playing for Championships and erasing the sting from the 08 season – all I could think of is that Miles and the players are focused on the goal and not the process of how to attain the goal. Saban called it “the process” and guess what – it works. What do you need to do each and every day to achieve success on this play. Win each play, win the game. I am afraid Miles has become a victim of his own success. I am sure he is a nice guy – I admit I’ve met him on a couple of occasions and he is a nice guy.

I am not calling for Miles to be fired – but I am asking for an honest assessment of what led to the inconsistency displayed this season and how they will change the approach. There were numerous failings that need to be addressed. If he is giving you as our representatives an honest and frank assessment and his explanation is acceptable – to you – that is just fine with me. I just want to know that you – as this district’s representatives on the LSU Board of Supervisors – are demanding and receiving accountability from the LSU football coaching staff.

Kindest regards,

i would hope they would block sender or delete. It's really just stupid. They don't have any reason to listen to the suggestions of some dipshit sitting at his computer writing BS on a message board.

I got a email back about the atrocious fanbase LSU has developed in the last three years.

Does that count?

this...bigtime. there are actually a lot of people on this board who think LSU has the talent to go to the bcs every year. what a crock!

some of our fans have turned LSU into 'domer south.' the levels of entitlement are only surpassed by the levels of delusion.

Since you are the man with all of the answers, just who are the people donating to the TAF? What if said people stopped giving? That might change things around fast...
