i'm WAY more comfortable with our QB situation this year than last.
we had a harvard transfer and a redshirt frosh who had never taken ONE snap in a live game.
i agree
however JJ didnt overly impress me(and many other LSU fans) sat night.
He'll get another shot to do so in about 4 days.

I don't if I agree with the theory of using last year's qb performance with your comfortableness in judging this year moving forward.
It couldn't get much worse than last year.

JJ could have thrown a few pick 12's?

Just had a thought, Is there anyone here who can name me anyone in the SEC who outperformed JJ this weekend?
Seriously some of you act as if we had Dan Marino in his prime last year and you are comparing a guy making his 3rd start to him.
Whenever we have topics or post like this I ask myself......When looking at JJ as of right now, am I better off with him or what I saw last year?
JJ on the road in a hostile environment or Lee at home against Bama or Ole Miss?
Bottom line I dont live in fear everytime JJ drops back because I TRUST his decision making.

I don't know how anyone could say "less!" Do u not remember Lee set an NCAA record for pick 6's last year. Every time he dropped back to pass last year, my a-hole puckered up. It wasn't very exciting, but Jefferson did a good job. No interceptions and when he found no one open, he threw it away. SOmething Lee should have done about 20 times last year. I am, however, disappointed we didn't get to see Shepard play! What did we have to lose by letting him take a few snaps? I don't know if they were trying not to show all their weapons or just weren't comfortable or what. I hope we see something different against Vandy! We have to take some shots down field and u have to get the ball in the hands of our game changers (Holliday, Shepard, etc.)!

More
Now if Oline and Dline would step up and improved tackling we would be back in form.

I reserve judgement till he plays a real defense. Everything so far is positive but again its not an SEC defense.

he'll never "impress" those that don't won't him starting ahead of JL.
I'm glad he hit 11/19 because some are waiting to throw up 49% from last year.
You're right 3 td's and 0 int is nothing compared to the nice stats we saw last year.
I say we bench JJ now and bring in JL before its too late and we fall further behind in the division standings.

what would he have to do to impress you?
5 TD? 500 yards passing to 10 different receivers?

As were they last season
we didn't have one of their receivers running wide open last week which is completely different from last season

WAYYYYYY more confident than last year. I want to see Crowton open up the pass book a bit this next game. What I don't want is for them to push him into making a mistake. After how the fans turned on Lee last year, I think any signs of a repeat of those kinds of mistakes would be instantly seized on by the fans and that would not be good for developing this kids confidence.
A win is a win. If we can get wins in these first games without causing any psychological damage to the kid, he should be where he needs to be for the bigger games or at least a lot closer to it than he would be if he screwed up in these games.
If the worst thing you can say about him is he's reckless with his own body, I'd say we're sitting pretty.

What gets me is that the self-proclaimed JL apologists say: "Give JL a break. He was a RS-Frshmn and he is young." ...
...yet JJ is younger, didn't get a full year to learn the playbook and is putting up better stats. And he's not getting any kind of credit or break from those that are lobbying for JL to get a break.
What's wrong with this picture?
Let these guys play and support whoever is under center.
Idiots!

he threw the best deep ball of last season against arkansas in the back of the endzone and he threw several good ones vs. GT.

You do know what a redhsirt actually does don't you?
Hell lets continue to talk down on a player who is still on the team. That is what REAL Tiger fans do.
Do you see anyone but BT saying anything negative? No you don't but here we go with Lee shite all over again.

a million times more. to me, Lee was one of the worst QB's in all of college football last year.

It looked for all the world like they simply didn't want to take any unnecessary risks. now...that COULD be because they know something about Jefferson we don;t and they don;t want to take chances with him because they know he can;t make the throws...or it could simply have been that they didn't want to risk huge mistakes on the road in his first start of the season and crush what little confidence the offense may feel having him under center after last year. Until I hear otherwise, I'm leaning on the later.
Very insightful post there. I agree.
I guess if JJ would have thrown a few picks his detractors would have been more impressed due to his similarity to JL.
As far as 'head shots', well he's a young kid playing with a lot of intensity and he actually appears to have a desire to win.
So I'm not all that surprised that he took on those UW defenders. With age and experience come wisdom. At least the kid shows the ability to be coached and to learn from his mistakes.
The second team QB, not so much.
