Guess I have a hard time believing they don't care that the fans aren't there through the entire game.
I can promise you they do not care if people leave early after a blowout.

These people saying that it's a new phenomenon occurring over the last decade are simply blowhards trying to convince themselves and others that when "they" used to attend games
i said it and i still attend the games. did in the 70's did in the 60's still do. So that statement is false.

I don't know about "real fans," but intelligent, secure men don't typically call women "bitches" because they disagree about attending football games.
Seriously? You've been calling people fat, lazy, sluggard bitches, and now you're calling me out for saying bitch once? Irony.

quote:idk either. Kinda makes me wonder though. I wouldn't think they would affect them that much as long as the fans are there for when it matters most
Don't know...that's why I'm asking how it affects the players. If it doesn't bother them then I suppose it's no big deal. Guess I have a hard time believing they don't care that the fans aren't there through the entire game.

I could just as easily make the case that people who attend EVERY game, yet leave w/ 5 minutes left in a blowout are more dedicated to the program than people who only make 3 or 4 games a year (regardless of where they live) and stay the whole time.
No, you couldn't. I'm pretty sure that, in terms of both time and money, attending four home games from one thousand miles away is just as taxing as attending eight (six this season) from Houma (I'm picking a random locale).
In any event, this is a totally irrelevant red herring. The question is whether fans who stay for thr entire game are more dedicated than those who leave early. They are.

People having been leaving games early during blowout games since I started going to them in the early 70's. I'm sure it was happening before then as well. These people saying that it's a new phenomenon occurring over the last decade are simply blowhards trying to convince themselves and others that when "they" used to attend games, it was sooooooooo much better. They were suuuuuch better fans. Don't fall for that crap.
This isn't exactly true. I started going to LSU games when I was in high school and the stadium was always full till the end, at least to the games I went to. However, I'm not saying any fans are better than others. Just looks like LSU fans can't handle staying in the stands to support their team...win or lose, blowout or not. But what is perception anyway?......except reality.

You honestly can't dinstinguish between criticizing a generalized group of anonymous people and specifically calling a unique woman a "bitch" to her face? Come on, man.

Yeah, actually I could and did. You just don't like it because you happen to fall into that category.

Well, you made a statement, not an argument. But so be it.

Not at all. I agree the best (mosyt devoted) fan is the one who attends every game, cheers passionately for sixty minutes, and stays until the end. I don't fall into that class. But neither do he fans who leave early. I'll endeavor to make every single game next year if you'll promise not to leave early.

I don't attend every game. Nor do I always stay until the end of a blowout.
But then, I'm not the one setting myself up as being superior to my fellow fans, now, am I?

Then you are a flat out liar if you are saying fans did not leave early during blowout games in the 60 and 70's. Because that would be a lie.

No one can judge anyone else in all honesty. But it DOES look like LSU fans are somewhat spoiled and whimpy to not be able to stay in the stands regardless of the game situation. I hate the way it looks on TV and wonder why people even bother going in the first place. Seriously, if it's such a bother, why go at all?

Get off your high horse. If it bothers you that much, you can find another team who has more devout fans than LSU. Because we're obviously not worthy of your fandom

This really isn't about me. You want to slander me, criticize me, etc? Go for it. No worries. This is about the fans who stay all game (there are many) and the those who leave early (there are many). The fans who stay are more dedicated and make TS a better place. I wish everyone would show that dedication.

Judging by your posts, you're the only one who stays the whole game.

Honey, you're asking the wrong guy. Ask the 45,000 people who had left w/ 5 minutes left in the game. I'm sure you'll get at least 20,000 different answers, including any number of "none of your business".
Which is my point. Why is it anybody's business except that of the person leaving early WHY he's leaving early?
Stuff like this is a big part of what's wrong w/ society today...we're all to busy worrying about what the other guys is doing, whether it affects us or not. Not enough 'live and let live' out there.

Nope, looks like 30-40K. But that leaves 40-50K who decide to leave early. Maybe 5K have a legit reason. The rest are just, well, less dedicated.

these fans wouldn't sit through rain or snow to support thier team.bitch about haveing to go to day games, and your right some of us cant afforde tickets or to tavel 7 hours, but my 7 year old son deserves to be there more than most of you.

No, actually, it's also about those who choose not to attend the game, but somehow find moral superiority to criticize those who actually attend in person for leaving early. How you guys don't see the hypocrisy in that is mind boggling.
