Look, I know that Romero can't hit a curve, but he did everything he could to draw a walk there. And should have gotten to first

You didn't put him in the game to draw a walk. You put him in to hit a fly ball to the outfield. You could have left pap in if you were trying to draw a walk.

They have been there last year. It's a former tiger building a program and they won.

Let me guess--you don't care for Romero. He won lots of games for us last year and pretty much carried the team for a few weeks after Coach had to play him because he was hitting so well. It is tough to win a game as a pinch hitter.

I'm not saying you put him in to take a walk, but when he was getting nothing but junk curve balls and an ump with a massive strike zone, taking a walk would be the next best thing.

Romero had a good weekend,

And he had a good season last year. Look at the #s: highest Slugging %, second in HR, second in RBI with 39% less AB than the RBI leader, etc.

if he sees any significant playing time going forward he is going to see all breaking balls until he learns to hit them.

I guess he put up those numbers without ever hitting a curve?

I don't hate him. I just think he has a serious hole in his game that will be exploited. It showed up tonight.

Most players have trouble with the curve. Romero can hit and hit for power. We need his bat in the lineup. He is a leader and we need him.

I disagree. He messed up by taking that fat first pitch, but after that he never saw a strike and should have drawn a walk if not for one of the worst calls I've seen in a while. That was a good AB, but the ump fricked him.

Agreed. If healthy he needs to DH and hit 5th.

Agree on the first pitch, and that was in large part why is said it was a terrible AB. Even with the bad call, he chased the last pitch well out the zone.

Wrong type of player for Mainieri. McNeese has more power than LSU. Think about that.

And McNeese bunts better than LSU as well.

Yes he clearly would've been safe at 2nd pinch running, which he was but the batter was thrown out at first.

He's plenty healthy enough to DH. His shoulder, however, is not 100% and will likely prevent him from catching every day.

There is no doubt that he made a huge mistake on the last pitch and he looked like shite. My point is that he held off of 4 balls that he should have and he should have been on first with a walk. If not for the horrible call, everyone would agree that it was a good AB.

Went looking for reaction on the McNeese Geaux Cowboys board, but there's nothing there. Must have to wait until the hamster turns on the electricity in LC before they can access the internet.

Nobody hardly uses that board anymore. It is a dying dinosaur. Everybody posts on the Facebook Geauxcowboys Public Discussion Group now. There is more activity there than there ever was on the old Geauxcowboys Messageboard.

McNeese fans have almost abandoned GeauxCowboys.org.

They all moved to a new geauxcowboys Facebook page now, which is VERY popular.

Fans there are pleased, but know that the Southland is deep and we have a tough conference schedule ahead, which starts Friday and this conference will beat up on themselves, which will mean a couple of SLC schools will be left out.

i was at the game. all the mcneese fans seemed pretty chill to me. we all just drank and enjoyed the game instead of trying to get into a penis contest. LSU would win that easily
