Should we rent a car then?
Personally, I wouldn't. Uber should be just fine for getting around town on Friday. Saturday you won't want to fight parking or traffic. Your rental will most likely stay parked in the hotel parking lot for the majority of the trip.

That dude is an idiot but I wouldn't push Ruth's Chris on any visiting out of towner.
Who comes to South LA for a steak?

I’m hearing Supper Club is legit. You just would need to make reservations now.

That sounds like a great day. Avoid the college kid tailgates, they will all be in the same spot in a field by our clock tower. they get tanked early and are more likely to be dicks.
Every other tailgate will be good people. You are going to have to be pretty outgoing and walk up to them. Nobody is going to just wave you over and start offering you food alcohol. Usually eitquette would be to bring your own booze but some ppl might be extra generous. Food should be on the house.

Bring your Glock, and DO NOT go to New Orleans.

Oh good to know about the away team hotel!

Yeah I definitely won’t be trying to tailgate with the college kids!

Not too bad cutting through the back way to the hotel after the game.

Are you fricking nuts?
I guess so, but it has never taken me more than a half hour to get from Dalrymple (where I park) to either the Embassy Suites or the College/I-10 on ramp. And I'm not a very patient person.

Great hotel choice. Zealand street market is great home cooking for lunch on Friday, 5 minutes car ride from your hotel. Tio Javis is good Mexican food, walking distance from your hotel. Ginos is outstanding Italian food, 10 minute walk from your hotel.
Friday evening go drive around campus and see people already getting tailgates in place. On Nicholson Ext in “Touchdown Village” you can see literally over 100 rv’s already parked in their spot on Friday evening.
Saturday if you go in the morning you shouldn’t have a problem getting ubered over. If you’re just walking campus on Saturday, here are some spots worth checking out
- Mike the tiger cage… right by the stadium
- Parade Grounds… lots of sorrority/fraternity stuff. Worth just checking out
- Greek Theatre… if you get there at a certain time the band will be warming up right before they March down the hill
Indian Mounds… near Greek Theatre, cool looking and will have tons of tailgating on all sides
Chimes Street area… this area has a bunch of spots already mentioned like The Chimes and Louie’s- several cool bars in the area that will have games on
Student Union… nice place to catch your breath and rest for a bit

Go to L’Auberge Saturday morning, gamble, watch other early games at the sports bar, get a shuttle to campus, walk around until game time stopping in at random tailgates. You’ll get Tiger Baited a few times, just smile and wave.
Friday, I would personally hit some of my favorite local spots. Am Mart sandwiches just south of campus are a hidden national treasure.

The Chimes
Also will be hard to get into and end up being a waste of time.
Chimes East would be a decent place to eat on Friday if you want to avoid the crowd by campus.

Hey guys, since we have a bye week I can shift my focus fully to the LSU trip. I personally needed a week off after the stress of the Florida game!
With the announcement of the 11 am kick, that changes plans a bit so a few questions.
How early do the gates open?
When is the tiger walk or other pregame traditions?
How early should I get to campus?
After the game, I’ll probably belly up at a bar and watch football. What are some suggestions? I don’t want a college bar with a rowdy crowd of 18-23 year olds. More of a sports bar to watch a lot of games and chat with folks.
Looking forward to the trip.
