I hope so, b/c it looks like a Houston Nutt strategy at first glance.
The conclusion is inescapable that the staff feels Rivers/ Randall are not ready for real, live backup duty.
If so, it's pretty late in the day for a championship contender to address that big a depth problem.
Oh please, QB depth in college football is one of the hardest things to come by. How much depth did championship contenders have last year? Alabama? How about the year before with Auburn?
If you see a chance to improve depth at the QB position. And I'm willing to bet not many coaches would be content with have only 3 QBs on scholarship, 2 being RSF.

Worm,
What team have you been watching?
I would take Auburn AND Alabama's QB situation over ours for each of the last five years, and in 2013.
If you differ, please tell us why.
LSU quality and depth problems at the postion are not new and stand out like a sore thumb to the quality and deoth at nearly every other position.

I was referring to championship teams having issues with QB depth. Did you see Sims play last year? Did you see the crap Auburn trotted on the field once Newton left? Both of those won championship with very little QB depth.

LSU should have a quality starter this year in Mett. Most teams in college football have QB depth issues. LSU is trying to improve that.

I agree with you on one thing:
We will have a quality starter this year at LSU.
It's been a long time since that happened.
