re: Breaking down LSU and Oregon

Tennessee only had 28 players on its roster that had played a single snap against an FBS opponent going into the Oregon game, think about that. UT-Martin was it for 37 out of our 65 man roster. By the time they went down to LSU, they had faced Oregon and Florida and freshman like Justin Hunter, James Stone, Jacques Smith, Zach Fulton, and Eric Gordon were getting regular playing time, raising the talent level quite a bit.
Tennessee's starters on defense were bottom third of the SEC anyway, but the reserves were OVC level, realistically, when you combine talent and experience. The lack of depth isn't going to be exposed against a team with a slow moving, low powered offense like LSU ran against Tennessee. Oregon, meanwhile, really wore Tennessee down by the second half, when Fulmer's trash started getting snaps defensively. The talent Tennessee had on the field defensively against the likes of LaMichael James, Darron Thomas, and Kenjon Barner, was as overmatched as I've ever seen Tennessee defensively in my life. That won't happen against LSU when instead of Fulmer's Rhea County all-stars, you'll have Under Armour and Army All Americans shuttling in on the second unit.
Simply put, the two teams Tennessee put on the field were completely different, both due to when in the season the games were played, and the style differential offensively of the opponent.

Bray looked far more impressive to me than Sims. The two games shouldn't be compared at all. That being said, the smackdown Oregon put on UT was impressive. Punt returns, pick sixes, 70 yard run that could've been stopped in the backfield, a beautiful pass to Paulson, LT snatching that would be int. It was a very entertaining game. Besides those off balanced run sets in the beginning, it was almost perfect.
I do like Dooley though. That guy seems class. I hope UT gets resurrected under him.

It was the most overmatched I've ever seen Tennessee. The defensive talent Tennessee had on the field for much of the second half, like I said, against Oregon's speed, should be illegal.
I'll be headed up to Eugene in 2013. We'll only have 4-5 upperclassmen starting this year, and no real difference makers besides Janzen Jackson. So what you see out of us this year will most likely be what we'll be bringing up there, only 2 years older. It is still a ways away and a lot can change, but the game should be much more evenly matched. Looking forward to the trip.

It will be a blast. Oregon's talent will be otherworldly at that point.

LSU pretty much lost to Tennessee if they don't have more than 11 men on the field. LSU won 16-14 at home.
Really? Did you check the box score? LSU dominated statistically that game. Coaching kept the game close. Do some homework Duck boy!

12)Speed, speed, and more speed: UO was the fastest team in CF last year. They have even more true speedsters coming in. They will even be faster this year, even across the board. Many coaches/ fans who saw us play in person said we were the fastest team they ever saw. And with the play-makers, we have too many guys to count that if they get a crease- they are GONE! UO can score and score fast at any time, O or D. (or special teams.) Another poster earlier said LSU will shut down UO's O which will tire out the UO D. Not true. We have way more players on our team that play D then O because we are so used to scoring too quick. Having our D on the field all day is a common occurrence and we have built up our team for that knowing our O usually gets off the field quickly. UO's D will not be tired. We recruit for way more D players and are loaded there.
lol, you are too cute

One of our DEs anchored the 5a Louisiana championship 4x100 team. Just sayin, if you think you are going to amaze us with speed, this is going to be hilarious.

He was actually right. It had nothing to do with the statistical comparison

I can't believe LSU dominated Tenn statistically like that. I was at that game, and LSU looked lethargic, sloppy, and hopeless on offense. Never looked at the box score but seemed like LSU didnt amass more than about 275 yds.

. Auburn went back to their hurry up offense and made that finishing drive look easy.
Funny the way your post references all of the "freak" occurrences that allowed Oregon to move the ball and get points and then describes a drive on which Auburn was gifted an extra 30-40 yards due to "was he or wasn't he down" confusion while suggesting that the drive was effortless for them.

Jordan Jefferson playing flat out awful (outside of his easy long TD run) kept that TN game close.

JJ playing poor...is that an anamoly?

JJ losing an opening game or an OOC game is definitely an anomaly.
