JJ playing poor...is that an anomaly?

He meant that he played poorly by JJ standards. I know that is a scary thought, but even scarier is that we won the game anyway.

Usually a spell check on the rant comes with a disparaging comment about the quality of education at your school of choice, but I've always thought that was a bit silly. I've known some people that were incredibly smart scientifically but couldn't spell worth a damn. I was trying to leave it as an afterthought ("oh by the way...") kind of thing rather than as a shot at you. If I wanted to take a shot at you I'd have gone with "I think its when a bison fricks a duck that you get a bisonduck. We should see more of these now that Colorado is in the PAC", ...but I didn't.

Ahhh... I was wondering who the hell was a bison. Does that mean grad school at UO?

LSU has problems 'playing to their competition'. It almost appears as though LSU is the 'AI', (artificial intelligence), that makes computer opponents in video games more/less difficult depending on the players ability.

It happened with North Carolina, WV, Troy, most SEC opponents, and for a short time, McNeese State.

However: Bowl Championship Series records; LSU 4-0, Oregon 1-2. Sometimes they get angry.

I think what you will see in the LSU-Oregon game is this: LSU will play consevatively on offense and will rely on special teams play to either flip the field or even go for a first down in critical situations.
Defensively, LSU will be agressive and attempt to exploit the front seven of Oregon to disrupt their timing. The center play for Oregon will be critical. If LSU consistently wins this battle against Oregon's center, it will go a long way towards winning the game.

Offensively LSU will attempt to run between the tackles at Oregon. This will have varying degrees of success. Over the course of the game, running between the tackles tires a defense and controls the clock. You will also see crisper passing routes and an attempt at a genuine vertical passing game. How well that is executed remains to be seen, but many of the same things LSU did well against Texas A&M, LSU will attempt to do the same against Oregon.

I remember that Les Miles, in one of (if not the) first home game at Tiger Stadium, he ran a fake punt from inside his own 20 yard line. I predict that Kragthorpe will be looking to create a similar 'check out how big my nuts are' scenario......during the entire game.

So defensively, LSU will try to exploit Oregon's offensive front seven?

What exactly is the front seven on offense? Do you know anything about the game of football?

You realize Krags isn't the special teams coach right?

At Az State, post Katrina...

LSU at Az St 2005

At about the 2:20 mark

Fake punt out of the end zone. First LSU game for Les! First Quarter! First possession! Chris Jackson to Ronnie Prude... Total awesomeness

Yeah, my intended meaning was that Krag will make similar gambles with offensive play calling.......

Jordan Jefferson playing flat out awful (outside of his easy long TD run) kept that TN game close.

I was at that game as well and it's not our passing game where we dominated. Our DL was stout that game only giving up 2.6 yards per carry and our running game was solid. Both performances were noteworthy. I think some people think the sky is falling just because the passing game isn't going well.

I would say losing by 3 points compared to 7 is absolutely meaningless.

@DuckFootball: Oregon CB Cliff Harris was cited by state police early Sunday for driving 118 mph in a 65 zone, on a suspended license.

The main thing I'm focused on is how differently we both played Tennessee. If Oregon beat Tennessee by 10 or less, I would consider LSU and Oregon equal. However, there is such a large discrepancy between how we both played. We handled Tennessee pretty well in their own house and you all struggled in your house. This doesn't really concern you guys, even a little bit?

The net yards gained in both games are pretty close, but Tenn gained more on the ground and in the air against Oregon. You edged us out slightly in passing and we had more receiving yards. Despite the score difference, seems like the overall performance was pretty close.
