Its pretty funny to me that every duck fan I've talked to said the same thing, but they were like were proud of them for at least making it, How can fans actually say that they will lose before you even play? Must be the reason Oregon barely put 1/4 fans in that stadium, no faith!!

Oregon fans are always waiting for the other shoe to drop. We got snubbed in '01 to NU that didn't even win the conference, Dixon went down, and, well, you saw the NCG play out. We are a very skeptical people here in the NW.

I think that JJ enjoyed the feeling of throwing 3 TD passes to Toliver vs. A&M the last time he played in Texas, and will be looking to do the same......this time with Randle.

LSU is the most self-loathing fanbase in college football. If we lose to Oregon, people will immediately begin discussing their plans to sell/not renew their season ticket packages.

Also, how do you think LSU would have done against Oregon last year?

Umm I honestly think we would have won. Teams don't always play to their full potential but often have the ability to play better in big time circumstances. LSU is a great example of a team that wins when it matters. Albeit it mattered when we played Auburn it was the only game we played last season in which we were obviously not the better team. I also honestly believe LSU played Auburn much more effectively than Oregon did but that Auburn played their absolute A-game and had to in order to win. Auburn had an off game against oregon and still ended up winning. I really don't care if you beat tennessee by 50 or not. The fact of the matter is that beating Tennessee was such a big deal for Oregon that they played their asses off and beat an inferior team. LSU went into the game thinking they could half-arse it to win and got lucky to do so. In the end when it comes down to it, I truly think our team will be better prepared, mentally and physically, we will have a better game-plan, and we will play with more desire to win than Oregon will.

Marquee game for you, trap game for us. We played the 6th toughest schedule in the country last year. You played the 59th toughest, and won exactly one more game.

quote:

We both lost to Auburn

We lost on the road at Auburn, you lost at a neutral site. Big difference.

quote:

Now LSU is losing some of their best defensive and offensive player

LSU has recruited very well since Les Miles became the coach six years ago. Average recruiting class rankings would be in the top six in the country. We reload here in BR. We return 24 of our top 30 tacklers from a year ago.

quote:

Oregon keeps their main offensive play makers, but loses some experience in the trenches.

You lose the two best WR from last year, and four starters on the OL. You lose three starters off the DL and and two starting LB, as well as a starting CB. You only return 12 of your top 20 tacklers from a year ago. And your recruiting class rankings from the last six years average in the teens, consistently much lower than LSU's.

quote:

My question is how can you be so confident about your team winning

1) More experience returning

2) More talent available

3) We know the field, we won our bowl game there

4) The game will be a virtual home game for LSU

5) Oregon loses in games when opponents have extra time to prepare, like this one

6) LSU is 6-0 in opening games under Les Miles

7) LSU has lost exactly one OOC game under Les Miles in six years. This won't be the second.

8) LSU's last loss to a Pac whatever team was in 1979. 13-3 vs the Pac whatever all time

9) LSU has, as always, has been trouble free in the offseason. Oregon, as always, has had a player arrested for something. That tends to disrupt a team.

10) LSU is about the worst team Oregon could face in it's first game. We're faster, bigger, stronger, and we'll have the stands on our side. Our staff has always prepared well with extra time available. We have a new OC, so game-planning from last year's film won't help your staff much, if at all.

In short, we have about every tangible and intangible edge you could imagine.

In the series history between LSU and Oregon, it's 2-1 LSU. With your only win coming in 1932. The last time our respective teams played, LSU won 56-17.

Have a great day!

If you want proof of this, go look at the sold out sections on ticketmaster... The sections in the bottom level that are sold out are the respective student sections. LSU has 4 sections sold for students, Oregon has 1.

LSU is faster, stronger, able to jump over tall buildings in a single bound. We wear green. It's kryptonite paint on those jerseys. Yer toast.

Your players will start getting tired. Have injuries. Run into each other trying to set the defense while James walks by your secondary into the end zone.

I shouldn't have revealed our secret weapon.

It's late and I had to skip some pages, but we didn't lose anything on offense. Granted last year there seemed to not be much to lose, but our running game was really good. We only lost three starters, wr, ol, and rb. LSU is always 2-3 starters deep at rb, so no one is concerned, happy rather that Ridlet left early and got picked up in the draft.

I see that typo, hate the ipad, so it's staying, lol. Tt at wr is the only small hit we take, but our receivers are going to be exciting to watch. Oline, we lose only one starter, but return our other four, and our epically named universal backup T-Bob.

That's not exactly losing top talent on offense. I feel that as long as Lsu contains big plays on special teams, they will win. I feel like with what Oregon lost on the defensive front, they will be on the field all night trying to stop Ware and the elusive Ford, who not even the Lsu fans have seen tape on, lol. I see a good close game, that seems more lopsided than the score indicates in the Tigers favor

Breaking down LSU and Oregon

quote:

Last season, both LSU and Oregon played Tennessee. Oregon started off slowly in the first half, but ended up blowing out Tennessee in the second half. Oregon won 48-13 at Tennessee.

LSU pretty much lost to Tennessee if they don't have more than 11 men on the field. LSU won 16-14 at home.

Now LSU is losing some of their best defensive and offensive players. Oregon keeps their main offensive play makers, but loses some experience in the trenches.

We both lost to Auburn, but Oregon still played them better.

My question is how can you be so confident about your team winning when Oregon played better in both games against common opponents.

This is why Oregon fans are confident in this game.

Wow you really broke it down...

Yet another Duck bringing up the Tennessee game and wanting to break it down but clearly shows they have NOT BROKE IT DOWN or they would quit bringing it up...

Lets break it down again for yet another uninformed Duck...

Oregon/Tennessee Game

Total Yards Oregon 447 Tennessee 333
Passing Yds Oregon 221 Tennessee 151
Rushing Yds Oregon 245 Tennessee 182
Turnovers Oregon 1 Tennessee 1

LSU/Tennessee

Total Yards LSU 434 Tennessee 217
Passing Yds LSU 215 Tennessee 121
Rushing Yds LSU 219 Tennessee 96
Turnovers LSU 4 Tennessee 0

Ok...lets break it down...

Oregon had 13 more total yards than LSU did and gave up 116 more yds to Tennessee than LSU did...

Oregon had 6 more passing yards than LSU and gave up 30 more passing yds than LSU did...

Oregon had 26 more rushing yards than LSU and gave up 86 more rushing yds than LSU did...

So basically LSU was able to put up the same stats offensively as Oregon against Tennessee and held Tennessee to 116 less yds offensively than Oregon all the while GIVING UT 4 EXTRA POSSESSIONS WITH THE TURNOVERS!

Yes LSU got a break with UT having too many men on the field but as good teams do you take advantage of other teams mistakes and its not too often a team can overcome -4 in the turnover column AND STILL WIN THE GAME!

Stop bringing up the UT game as a comparison because its a poor comparison if you really break it down because LSU put up the same stats offensively in rushing and passing and defensively was still 116 yds better than Oregon while giving UT 4 extra possessions in the game...

Fatigue will not be a problem for the LSU D. Not only being 2-deep at all positions, when LSU has the ball, it will be long possessions keeping the D on the sidelines (i personally think Oregon will have trouble containing Ware, Ford, Blue) and it will keep the Oregon O out of rhythm.

Should have talked to your Oregon friends before this post. I've already disproved this logic.

Oregon loses 7 of their top 9 in tackles last year, 5 of them from the front 7 (LB or DL).

Oregon loses 5 of their top 5 in sacks last year.

Oregon loses 5 of their top 5 in TFL last year.

Oregon's new guys on D made their OL (which has 3 new starters this year) look bad in the spring game.

Either the new guys on D are really great, or (more likely) Oregon is going to have trouble up front on both sides of the ball.

I look for LSU to run the ball effectively between the tackles and to give the Oregon offensive line fits when they have the ball.

The one caveat is that sometimes you lose guys and get better - LSU from 2009 to 2010 on D being an example of that. But if I were an Oregon fan I wouldn't be counting on it.

Edit: Oregon also lost their top 2 WR from last year and the new guys didn't do much to impress this spring, either.
