You actually think the OP broke down and actually studied the film?

Those highlights may not have the full games but they are still long to watch. And to watch all of them shows his effort. And I thought I would let your own LSU fan know that in sincerity. Again, you just proved my premise about your envy as you just could not stand to see a compliment thrown to a guy. Again LSU thread author, good job! I was impressed with your evaluation!

The problem as I see it , is the total ineffectiveness of the LSU offense for almost the entire season. PP7 kept LSU in a lot of games with his returns. I haven't looked it up but I will bet that LSU had a huge advantage at starting field position for the majority of their games. Watching the Arkansas game again clearly showed that LSU even with great field position time after time could not move the ball. JJ was 4-14 in the spring game with no blitz against second string or lower players. Reality check time. Oregon skull dragged Tennessee and most teams that they played. They have recruited very well and are well coached. Who does LSU have that will put them in positive field position. Arkansas defensive line shut down the run in critical situations over and over again. I am just saying that the QB situation at LSU is still in the hands of JJ.

I like the link you provided. They do say 25 players played on defense. Almost all of them also said they were worried about the depth and how those backups would respond to getting more snaps as starters. Your link that was supposed to support your defense actually indicates that your defense is actually a question mark on your team. Thank you for providing the link backing up the opinions of most LSU fans.

Oregon is going to have a stout front 7. Defense will be showcased in this game.

25 huh? Anyone want to make a wild guess how many LSU played last year?

Not 25 including special teams or other misc players that went in for the game briefly. 25 total guys, ON DEFENSE who were part of a set rotation. We played our D guys 3 snaps, asked them to give em hell for those 3, then rotated each out. Even ESPN was impressed with how many that was. (watch the ESPN video if you do not get it)

Not 25

I could be wrong, but I'm willing to bet we played a lot of guys. 25 really isn't that many guys (if you substitute a new guy for each starter from time to time you are already up to 22).

ETA:

Players that I know played in games on D last year:

Jai Eugene - 1
Patrick Peterson - 2
Morris Claiborne - 3
Ron Brooks - 4
Tharold Simon - 5
Eric Reid - 6
Tyrann Mathieu - 7
Chancey Aghayere - 8
Barkevious Mingo - 9
Kendrick Adams - 10
Lavar Edwards - 11
Drake Nevis - 12
Lazarius Levingston - 13
Michael Brockers - 14
Josh Downs -15
Kevin Minter - 16
Kelvin Sheppard - 17
Ryan Baker - 18
Stefoin Francois - 19
Lamin Barrow - 20
Tahj Jones - 21
Karnell Hatcher - 22
Brandon Tayloer - 23
Craig Loston - 24
Derrick Bryant - 25
Sam Montgomery* - 26

There are even more that I could list, but I decided not to because they didn't get significant rotation. We probably had 30-35 guys who got snaps on defense last year.

*starter last year before season ending injury. I'd say 99.99% chance he is the starter this year.

I only posted the link because every time on TD I post that we had 25 guys on regular rotation on D last year many LSU fans do not believe me. That is why I posted it. I read where one UO coach said we might rotate 19 this year there vs the 25 last year. But if you talk to UO fans who know our team, we are more confident in that group then last years and we figure to have a overall better Defense then last year. And the majority of the 25 from last year are returning. Thus, it dispels that myth that we will not have experience on D this year. That is also why I posted that link. So no, it backs up nothing as you claimed.

You have lost your damn mind! Hell Alabama would be concerned if they lost 6 of their front 7, sarting corner and MLB! I assure you they have way more defensive talent than Oregon.

I have never said we would blow out Oregon or even beat them but if we play a complete game we will win and win big.

Sorry if LSU fans are not scared of the big bad Oregon D we play in the SEC remember.

The biggest thing about rotation is, are the subs as good as the starters. We had 3, count them 3 freshman pick off aTm

Do this. Got to a thread where someone guesses the starters for next years first game and watch people argue over who is better and see how deep our roster really is

I have yet to see anyone say BS about y'all rotating 25 players. I think most of us just don't care. Scroll up and read my edited post. LSU rotated even more players on defense last year. You act like rotating 25 players is something only Oregon does and it will make losing 6 of your starters negligible. Every team does it and it will ease the burden of losing starters, but if they were as good as the starters...then they would be starting!

You have lost your damn mind!

Who knows Oregon better? A LSU fan, or a longtime Oregon fan? Hmmmm, I wonder.

Many Ducks have been saying that now here for several months. If we did not have the incredible talent of depth last year on D and if they did not all play so much last year, yes, losing so many starters on D might worry us.
We happen to think we will have a better D this year then last. Ummm, I think we know our own team better buddy.

And btw, did you watch our spring game? It was our O that was having issues and our D was incredible. You see we are used to getting 2 star or 3 star players each year and training them up. The last few years we have had better recruiting. If you watched the ESPN clip you would see one commentator say we never had all the chips before on D until recently.

And do note: We were ranked 12th for giving up points on D last year. LSU was 11th. If you assume LSU has a good D, well, UO was only 1 ranking worse. And oh, our D happened to go against way better Offenses and QB's last year like: Matt Barkley, Jake Locker, Nick Foles, Jeff Tuel, Ryan Katz, Andrew Luck, Cam Newton.

The only great QB's you had to face last year were Newton and Mallett.

I do hope your coach and team shares the same opinion as you though.

Luck and Newton are the only great QBs listed. Barkley is good. Locker had an AWFUL senior year.

I haven't even heard of the rest of those.

LSU had Mallet and Newton, as you said, as well as:

T.J. Yates
Geno Smith
National Championship Winner Greg McElroy
Former Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli
and
Ryan Tannehill

ETA:

Looking at the box score for Oregon vs Washington...Jake Locker didn't even play.

Wow. You just named Katz from Oregon State
Facts: oregon played #7, #9, #27, &#37 in scoring offense.

LSU played #7, #17, #18, #34, #41, #43, and #48.

7 in the top 50, 3 in the top 25 compared to your 2 in the top 25 and 4 in the top 50

Stat, fail.

BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!

We all know that all teams that are contenders have deep benches. Take time to watch some of the highlights. Just the 2 SEC teams that they played Tenn. and Auburn. Cam got smashed. Maybe because they run a similar offense, they were very prepared to stop them. They shamed Tenn. What SEC team did this? LSU's offense lacked any kind of continuity. Can we all say 4 throwing touchdowns for an entire season. I hope that our new coordinator is a miracle worker. Krag. has his hands full. I know that Les wants to play power football but you have to be able to get the other teams defense out of the box. The run, run, and then throw on 3rd and long is not going to work if your QB can't throw accurately and can't read defenses and holds the ball too long. Chavis has our defense looking great. I hope that Krags can do the same.
