We need to stop going after dual threat qbs. They are just not good passers period.

Um...not to be a dick, but if they aren't a good passer wouldn't that make them by definition a single threat? Otherwise, that's like saying Mark Ingram was a dual threat running back at Bama because he lined up in a wildcat formation sometimes and threw on a handful of occasions.

The idea of the dual threat is that they truly can make the throws and also have the wheels to hurt you with their feet. I don't like the dude and fully believe he was on the payroll at Auburn, but Cam Newton is a dual threat. Russell Wilson is a dual threat. Colin Kaepernik (sp?) is a dual threat. I don't believe we've really seen one at LSU in quite some time.

RP was the last true dual threat QB LSU has had.

He was talking about Winston and Marshall, both dual threat guys in the national championship.

And Mauck was a dual threat QB, his first action was pretty much all zone reads and QB draws.

Matt Mauck. Dual Threat.

Da hell are you even talking about?

First of all, Matt Mauck was a RUNNING QB during his first years at LSU (see 2001 SEC championship game). Secondly, he was referring to the last BCS championship game between Auburn (Nic Marshall) and Florida State (Winston). You shouldn't be laughing at anyone...

Did you ever watch Nick Marshall? He's an average passer, at best.

I pray we dont go back to that horrible 2011 stuff passing wise. Mett 6/13 67 yards and an INT. Year before that JJ 6/20 78 yards

In 2002 he had 50 rushes for 175 yards in 6 games mostly on designed. In 2003 he wasn't asked to run because that wasn't out offense, doesn't mean he didn't have the tools of a dual threat guy.

I think this is going to be the case. It will be a frustrating year. I think our defense will be very good and keep us in every game. We will have a great offensive line with elite running backs, but qb play will be our Achilles heel.

Why does the rant seem so hellbent on tearing Jennings down this spring?

I don't think anyone is tearing Jennings down particularly. People are just nervous about the state of the QB situation, rightfully so.
That said, BH has looked more sharp--from what I've seen--than has AJ.

I've been very positive ever since the bowl game in regards to AJ, but good lord there needs to be at least some improvement by now

I'm all fine and dandy with that, I really am. I trust the coaches to get these qbs ready and I will fully support whoever goes out on the field to take snaps for the Tigers. But, you have to see that some of these people are clearly already lined up against Jennings. He's helped us win two football games in 2 tries. He, even by his own admission, has a lot to learn and improve on. I just wish we could show more support for the guys wearing P&G.

It's spring football, thats exactly what these practices are for. He will get much better with timing over the summer and through fall camp. Please, everyone relax. We have 3 very talented but very young scholarship qbs. They WILL get this right eventually.
