This guy should lose his job...he must have lost his mind. That was some weak lame stupid rambling BS.

I would post, but I doubt he could read it. I'm fairly positive that after reading that piece of journalistic shite, that he has a poorly configured version of Dragon Dictate on hand; no one can be that stupid and breathe, much less stay employeed. Well...ok, maybe they can stay employeed ( thinking about my company ) but they can't keep breathing!

This is kind of old news that gets repeated every year. About this time of the year all the pundits start saying the SEC is down and overrated. Then Bowl season comes and the SEC wins between 6-8 games including the MNC and during the offseason these same pundits proclaim the SEC the undisputed #1 conference.

Last 3 national titles to the SEC. Yea definately overrated

IMHO, some in the media say stuff like this in the hopes of justifying a one-loss USC team in the BCSCG if there is a one-loss SEC champion. Unfortunately, I think this is a real possibilty if the SEC champion has 1 loss. Then, when USC beats an overrated Texas or Iowa (!!!), we'll have to hear endlessly how wonderful USC is. When USC barely squeaks by a team, the media always finds an angle to play it up as how tenacious USC is, or how they are never really out of a game, or some other BS positive. It makes me want to vomit.

the Pac10 is VERY up
I saw a few posts that conceded that the Pac 10 is solid this year. Really? It's not the Pac 1 this year, so it's better, but I'm not horribly impressed. By my count, they hold a combined 3-6 record against ranked opponents.

Also, as far as discounting Texas and their schedule, a point you forgot to mention in that big 3 point victory over Oklahoma, was that they won that one with Bradford out very early on in the game!

LSUmatt is correct. Our three BCS .................?
GeauxBob....u were on the money....
I think the sec is really even and teams are starting to wear down a little...This is when it starts to get crazy...
The Big 12 is the conference thats down...of Course I thought they've been overated for years anyway...Look at their bowl record from last year when they were suppose to be so strong...If Texas goes to the BCS NCG they will get their asses handed to them just like OK and the Big Ten..
PAC 10 isnt Bad...Their not strong top to bottom but oregon and usc are pretty good..

For those that didn't read the link the writer calls the SEC in general and Florida, Alabama, and LSU in particular over-rated this year. Fine, Alabama and Florida have looked more vulnerable the last two weeks and LSU hadn't really looked good until they opened up a can on Auburn... but who do you look at and think more highly of?
Iowa? Have scraped by against marginal competition
Texas? Finally looked good against Missouri, far less impressive against OU, Colorado the weeks before.
Cincinnati? Look fine if they played anyone I guess. Only game on their schedule that seems reasonable so far is the road game against Oregon State
Boise? Won home opener against Oregon, got by tulsa by one td on the road and played weaker competition otherwise than George Foreman on a "one more time" boxing tour
USC? Won a close one against OSU on the road, some credit for that even though OSU has gotten smoked worse that OU in their last few big games. Lost to Washington, got past Oregon State and Notre Dame in close games, just not a wow team so far this year
Oregon? Lost to Boise to open the season and haven't played a top 25 team otherwise. They look good lately but the loss to Boise still looks ugly and it's hard to get too excited about blowing out a Cal team that tanked, WSU team that is Syracuse bad, or close wins against Purdue and Utah
TCU? Have probably done as much as they can given their schedule... but when your best games of the year are against Clemson, Virginia, and BYU (snuck past Clemson) I think your schedule is too substandard to be considered a legitimate top 10 team - even teams in the big east face a harder schedule than that
Some years there are teams that kinda impress you from the start of the year. For a while that team was probably Alabama for me this year... but this year there is no 2003 OU, 2005 USC, or 2006 OSU. And I don't think that means all that much anyway... those teams looked like historic teams most of the way through their seasons but none of them won a national championship

When folks say college football is down why can't the opposite be true? Maybe teams are getting better. We know the parity issue is big. I think there are a lot of good teams with quality athletes and you have to come to play each weekend.

Well the author was saying the SEC was down this year not college football in general as i read it.
To your point though - when there are more quality players playing in lesser name programs that does mean the quality of the game as a whole is probably higher. 50 years ago name programs could keep quality players on their bench just to prevent their competitors from getting them.
But that's a slightly different discussion from the thread or the writer's.
The point I was making was: After the last two weeks of play there is no cfb team which can say it has looked like a #1 team for the whole season
