So the 7am thing is bullshite??
No, that is when Dalrymple will be closed off. N, S, and W Stadium Drives as well. I assume Fieldhouse will be off limits to anyone without a parking pass in that region.

so if you hit tower at highland will you be able to drive all the way down to dalrymple or will those swinging gate fences at the union be closed?
He claimed that Tower would be wide open.
Again, this was just a lowly student worker, so take it with a grain of salt.

Well, shutting down South Stadium at 7am is a HUGE change.

Stupid rule. Everyone by the Indian Mounds...including me, is screwed.

What time did it close previously?
Posted on 8/20/08 at 3:51 pm to Sandtrap
better invest in a heavy duty 4 wheel dolly pretty quickly.

You could pretty much go up S.Stadium to Tureaud Hall until 11:30-12:00.

Thats what I thought. It's pretty shitty that they announce this 10 days before the first game.

Do what we do, go put all of your tailgating supplies in a vehicle and park it in your spot on Friday afternoon. Then on Gameday you park another vehicle whereever and walk to your spot.

i have an enclosed trailer i park out the night before. but i like to pick my kegs and ice up the morning of so they're cold/doesnt melt.

i think the idiots just randomly picked 7 AM out of their asses. why not make it 9 or 10 AM? Or even 6 hours before kickoff?
i sent an email asking for clarification. i haven't received anything yet. Damn idiots.

7 AM is so unnecessary. campus is dead at 7am.

that is correct... good job finding this map. in the past they closed 4 hrs before the game now it is 7am

Actually, no, not correct.
Just spoke with Herb Vincent - the open roads are exactly the same as last year. What is changing is how strictly they will be enforcing the points that the roads are blocked off - they won't let you through unless you have a pass, period. No temporarily going through to drop stuff off anymore.
Tower drive is completely open and accessible, just as it has been in years past.
ETA: and heres the email reply I just got from Adam Smith:
"The specific roads that are blocked off are the same as last season (North Stadium, South Stadium, West Stadium, Fieldhouse Drive, and Cypress Drive). There are no changes to the control points to campus or the time that those control points go into effect. The control of the inner campus is an existing policy that was emphasized in the press release to discourage vehicles without permits from attempting to drive through campus on game days.
It is important to note that Tower Drive remains open to all traffic for access to the Parade Ground and Coates Hall area.
Sorry for the confusion.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks"

So what I'm getting from that e-mail is that there is no change in the routine, but they put that in there to deter people from driving on campus. I tailgate right across from tureaud, so hopefully I'll be ok.

what about tower drive south of Coates Hall? i am referring to the section running from Coates all the way to Highland near Parker Coliseum.

Herb just told me the same thing.
Good guy, actually returns calls.
Assured me I would be okay.

Regardless of whether or not they say the rules remain the same...in theory they don't. Not being able to go down Dalrymple will screw up many people. I have been driving down that way for years now, so although the "rule" hasn't changed it really has.

what are the chances they dont really enforce the 7am time like always.

They will and more than likely there will be a guard there at 6:30am to deter people.
