I won't.
I'm not bailing on LSU, my life is what it is because of the work I put in (and the people I met) there.
I'm not huge fan of the football program right now, who fricking cares? This season was tough to watch (for me). That's as truthful as I can be. I wish I didn't GAF, I'm trying.
I'll try not to attend a game next year so some real fans can go.

well, LSU is a college and all so maybe students graduating should be a pretty damn high priority. i'm sure many bandwagon fans could care less but many of them probably never went to college anyway.

Great Thread. Observations of an admitted negatiger.
Scheme (X's and O's) - 6 out of 10 - Very predictable offense that has produced below average results with way above average talent. Solid defensive scheme that has produced results at a level commensurate with its talent
Recruiting - 9 out of 10 - Les has recruited very well, although of late Bama has been just a little bit better, which prevents the 10 score. Also, QB recruitment has been a real problem
Chances of off the field Scandal (Petrino like would be a 1, a 10 means no chance. This is strictly for the coach and the type of person he is) - 7 out of 10 - Les as a person has been above reproach, off field issues, which are the norm for a high profile program have been a concern of late. Totally botched the JJ situation last year.
Motivator - 10 out of 10 - Team usually plays very hard and clearly love playing for Les
Coaching in Practice - N/A - None of us can watch practice, so how can we properly evaluate. Have seen some youtube clips of the Big Cat drill, that's it.
In game manager (taking good with bad) - 6 out of 10 - The Bad - Ole Miss meltdown, Tenn debacle, calling timeout after a change of possession, this year's Bama game. The Good - NC against OSU was a very well managed game, Adjustments against A&M this year were solid
Loyalty to the program (grass is never greener) - 10 out of 10
Supporting staff (coordinators and pos. coaches) - 7 out of 10 - The Good: Chavis, Frank Wilson, Kragthorpe, Hiring Crowton The Bad: Malleveto disaster, Ensminger, Stud as OC, Retaining Crowton long after it was obvious he shouldn't
Graduating players (we are 2nd in the SEC behind Vandy) - 10 out of 10 - For a program at our level to graduate this well is an outstanding achievement
Sending players to the NFL (Developing talent) - 6 out of 10 - Sending players to the NFL is one thing, but developing talent is another. Haven't seen a lot of people getting demonstrably better under this staff
I am going to swap Coaching in Practice for Face of the Program to Boosters/Fans - On this I would give Les a 9 out of 10 - Like stated earlier, can't evaluate something I don't see. Les should get a lot of credit for representing the university extremely well. Everyone who meets him just falls in love with him. He knows how to work a room and knows how to handle the boosters.
80/100 B

Why is the coach as responsible for getting his players through their curriculum as he is calling the plays?
Posted on 11/27/12 at 5:19 pm to dukke v
what do think the records of lsu & alabama would be for the last 5 years if the coaches were exactly reversed. how many sec championships & national champions if any would each team win ?

I will just put it this way. If Saban had commited enough to stay at LSU another 5 or so years LSU would have at least 4 titles.
Lets remember Saban put LSU into a different Level, Miles has done a good job keeping it there.
In that case IMO. SABAN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Miles.
Another way to look at it, Miles AT Bama was not as good as when he got to LSU. I don't think he is program builder.

On a scale of 1 to 10, a 5.5 is average, or a C.
A 90 out of a hundred is an A to me.
Very few schools would not trade coaches with LSU, if they could.
I hope Miles stays clear of the NFL. He definitely has a competitive advantage coaching student athletes. I think he is a great head coach, and the Tigers, given the suspensions, injuries and bad luck, out-performed my expectations this year.
Just watch what he does with a healthy bunch of Tigers in the bowl game!

That would be a HUGE mistake on his part. He is a great college coach. Needs to stay in the college game and I see him going NOWHERE. Where else could he go and have it better????

We are a powerhouse that provides an education. That means something to recruit's parents.

Totally agree with Stewies assessment above. Miles is an enigma, he is good in some areas but when he stinks he stinks it up bad. I'd give him a C+ overall .

Well you can't have 3 of 4 so get over it. Only one team in the country has that. Move on

I don't want perfection, I just want a coach who can dominate Saban and Bama and relegate them to second best in the SEC West, just as LSU has been relegated to second best right now. No need to be perfect to do that, just excellent.
Uh, you do realize Les was only about a minute and a half from doing that this season right? And thats the same Les that did every thing possible to "relegate" UA to second place last season, but apparently a regular season win @ Tuscaloser doesn't matter as the Gumps get a second chance. Any other teams would have been been relegated to second place as you put it... and NOT given another chance.

there is NO MAN IN AMERICA that LSU could actually hire to best Saban and ascend to the preeminent program in the SEC West over the next three to ten years. That man just doesn't exist. Saban's nonpareil. Lil ole LSU just has to be happy with being second best, cause its the best we can hope for.
Really? You do realize Les was about a minute and a half away from beating Bama 3 of the last 4 times they met right? That statement seems so crazy, I have to go back and check the accuracy. Bama won the NC game, but didn't LSU win the 2 prior? And we were as close as we could get this season. fricking naysayers and negatigers have such short memories.
A handful of seconds away from winning 3 of the last 4 against the almighty Saban. I'll let that sink in.
So to say we don't have "the coach", is just plain asinine.
