Was just given a heads up of Byrd's condition. He is still in ICU but is responsive and is slowly getting better. Please lets keep the power of prayer going for byrd and his family. Thanks and God Bless!!

Thanks for the update. I will pray that the "Good News" continues. Small steps in the right direction are very important.

how the hell is that a cheap shot?

The guy is in the hospital with unknown head injuries and his career could be in jeopardy and you are mocking his work ethic on something that you know nothing about. That sounds to me like a cheap shot, especially since you wouldn't dare say that to his face or anyone else associated with him.

Does that answer your question or do you need to brush up on your reading comp. skills?

ESPN's NFL Live, just stated he is critical but stable, same thing with bumps and bruises, in ICU,

this actually could be true for D. Byrd, but means he probably got a really really bad concussion, and they are observing him to make sure he is not going to get worse, but people can be seriously hurt, w/ bumps and bruises, but could have more serious internal injuries, like a concussion, or other brain injuries

Prayers done. This is terrible. Has his whole life ahead of him. He'll be fine. Keep the faith.

Glad to hear he is responsive and improving. One thing the family can do for him now (if there is indeed a head injury) is to help keep him oriented to the time (day of week, date, year), place (hospital name, floor he is on, etc.), and situation (in hospital because ...). The more he knows about what is going on the less confused and anxious he will be and the better he will respond to treatment. Depending on the nature of his injury (if there is a head injury) he could have difficulty retaining this information at first, but over the days with repetition you will see improvement and he will be able to orient himself without assistance.

Thanks for the update cord. I will continue to pray for him and hopefully we'll see him on the field next season in the NFL.

I know we all want to see him play in the NFL but if he has any kind of head injury it might be best if he just doesn't play football esp in the NFL.

A person close to the Byrd family told ESPN's Joe Schad that doctors were encouraged that Byrd -- who is being evaluated for a head injury -- has attempted to open his eyes and sit up and has responded to music and questions.

Please continue praying for this talented young man!

Let's have a "Dirty Byrd" tribute...I'm not sure if any of you have seen this video of Byrd & Scott but it just shows the fun spirit that he brought to LSU:

I will pray for a 100% recovery. He provided all of us with one of the greatest plays in LSU history. He deserves a shot at the NFL and life in general.
