Sorry if you dint think everyone paying
Only teams who don't pay are the ones who can't afford it

I think we are getting off track. Let's get this thread back to people saying that since coach k struggled at duke at first that we should keep trent for a few more years.
Great logic there I say.

There are also people saying that because we lost today (not that we've been abysmal the last two year, but because we lost a single game) that TJ should be fired immediately.
Another fine example of "logic" so your argument works both ways

No, people were saying at the beginning of the season that if he made the tourney that would save his job. This loss guarantees that he will not make the tourney. So ....

bring in Tim Floyd and we're going to the tourney every year
I mean the banners might be taken down 5-10 years after the fact but who really cares
You think Kentucky fans care if last yr final four banner taken away in 5 yrs?

Getting a little long in the tooth to hop to a new program, eh?

He'd walk to baton rouge for the job
And I don't care of he was 80, he knows what it takes

LSU doesn't need another Van Chancellor.
No thanks.

quote:I agree 100%. This game had more marginal fans watching as the recent run started to get people talking about the basketball program again, and then they lay this huge egg. It was humiliating and I think disasterous. I don't see how he and the team recover from this point for this year. I hope they do, but I think this will send them into a tailspin. What must be done eventually must be done imediately. I don't think they need to waste any time. He's had 4 years and we are no better off now than at any point in the Brady era (error).
Not to go overboard here, but this game might be the one that does him in.
While we might be ahead of the (very low) expectations for this team, the past couple weeks gave people some hope that things have turned the corner. Looked like the Tigers finally were becoming respectable again.
That made this game, and the remaining games, meaningful. We had a legit shot at finishing out on a good streak, and winning 20 games for the season. People were beginning to pay attention.
Slightest hint of a spotlight, and we get utterly crushed by a team we "should" have beaten. In lots of ways, that's more crushing than having another losing season.

quote:You tell em Bubba! I tried giving out the same info on LSU basketball SEC history and got blasted as it wasn't relevant and these days a coach only needed three years to be a winner or he was gone. And then with no historical perspective they would trot out the same old why wouldn't a great coach and great players want to come here.
f LSU finishes better than 8-8 in the conference, that would be only the fifth time that has occurred at LSU in 20 years, two of them by Trent Johnson.

quote:This is a valid criticism that has been made repeatedly. But then we actually did start getting it into Hamilton and he has repeatedly refused to shoot the ball. So after you do feed one of our post guys and they either refuse to shoot or are double teamed, what are the alternatives? But do you fire Trent over this? I don't think so.
We all knew that after his first season, he had a rebuilding job to do. But I have watched him let one guard shoot us totally out of games and never utilize the strength of this team. His guards are to small and they don't know how to run any kind of recognizable offense. Street ball is being kind describing this team. Their is some talent. Just not coached.

5 NCAA trips in 17 years is just bout all any sane/reasonable fan has to to know bout LSU basketball to understand that we need to play this out a tad longer with TJ.
No doubt Saturday's game was a real bummer, but young teams/programs trying to grow will have those games. imo
