so the lyrics both and i and golfer posted are what you have and can't sing w/the band, correct?

I can as well, I tried my best to break down the rhythm with the lyrics, but that's why I suggested practicing, it took me a few tries as well

My first post ever, but I might be able to help you. I didn't know the lyrics, but taking them the way lsudiva posted them, and trying to sing them with the music, I was able to get it very close (except maybe right at the end, and with practice think I could get that). Don't know if it's exactly the way our band plays it, but there is a version of "Fight for LSU" at a great site called fightmusic.com.
Try it and see what you think.

yes, that is correct. i can sing the first verse in time with the band....."like knights of old, we'll fight to hold, the glory of the purple gold..." i think most people knows that part and is easy to sing with the band. but the second verse that begins with ..."keep trying for that high score, come on and fight we want some more (some more)come on you tigers fight fight fight! for dear old lsu...!) i can't for the life of me sing it with the band. (am pretty talented with most things, am not "challenged" in any way...) if someone could "perform" it for me, i would get it the first time. i feel like i am beating a dead horse, but it is something that i have ashamedly dodged for a number of years. it ends now! hahaha someone on this site, youtube yourself singing it and send me the address!

It is hard as hell to get the lyrics to match the rhythm of the fight song.....but not impossible. It's so old school that when u sing it you have to make it sound corney and cut off words really short and hold out insignificant words longer. If u can find a freshman on here that went to a thing called "stripes" they will know how to do it easy. But this is a tricky tune to get down. Just sing it like most of our fans do after a few hours of tailgating..."dahhh dah dah dah dahhh," that always seems to work
