I have 2 signed copies of the Sports Illustrated issue that called Tommy the best player in America on the cover, a 2007 championship ball signed by the whole team and Les, and this that I already had uploaded and may as well post before photobucket cock blocks my ability to do so.
Signed by CJ, Dale and Joe Dean.
But my favorite is the plaster figurine of Billy Cannon that my aunt bought at the stadium when she was there for the famous Halloween game during her freshman year.

I thought I already had it somewhere, but I can't find it, so I just took it again.

I have a mini helmet signed by Cannon and a mini helmet signed by Miles.
Years ago my mom got me the Mike the Tiger print signed by George Rodrigue of Blue Dog fame. I have it hanging in my LSU room. I think it looks like it belongs on a porn set.

OMG! I have one, too. Mine is not exactly the same as yours but it's pretty close. Mine was given to my mother by a friend who had had season tickets to the games all her life, and I got it from mom. Have never seen one anywhere else.
What else do you know about them? Wonder if it's possible that mine is from the year before yours and that's why it's similar but not identical?

I have another plaster figurine from the same era (also was my aunt's) which is the same size and style but it's not a specific player. It's just a fat-bellied generic LSU player whose jersey has no number. That one might actually be more rare because I'm sure most people bought the Billy Cannon one.

Oh wow, what ever happened to him?
He just couldn't stay out of trouble man. Such a shame cuz he could have been such an incredible safety for us. I see him every once in a while still.

One of the best BD gifts ever from my wife...
Now the "long" backstory. We had season tix from '98-'99 & '02-'07. I always kept my ticket stubs after each game for the current season and would throw them in my bedside drawer. My wife asked me one day (good cleaning freak that she is), "WHAT are you ever going to do with those old stubs???" To which I told her, "if we EVER won a championship I would like to get them framed as a memory." Well... after 2003, she took all the stubs, including the ticket lanyard from the BCS-NCG out of the drawer without me noticing. BCS game was Jan 4. Come Jan 18 (my BD), she presented me with a framed shadow box of all the tix and a pic of me in the middle all decked out in my LSU gear at the BCS-NCG.
Yeah... she's a keeper.

Mine is the same coloring as yours-uniform is identical. Billy Cannon with shorter hair looking younger than yours in my opinion. Stance is different. Big smile.
On the back of the green base, these words are etched:
BEN DAY
BATON ROUGE, LA

quote:Mine just say Ben Day, no Baton Rouge. It's etched, but I think it's a stamp that he made in the plaster.

The chunky generic player statue says "Made by Bennie Day, Baton Rouge, La." in cursive writing that was clearly done by hand - so it's probably older. Also, it has a small LSU banner sticker at the front of the base that the other one doesn't have.
I'm considering giving Billy to my nephew when he graduates from LSU, but I'm concerned that he'll still be too young and not responsible enough to take care of it. Either way, I'm keeping fat boy for myself.

I wouldn't give it to him yet.
I told my mom that I was going to see if the Lod Cook museum wanted mine. I never called them about it, but mom said they wouldn't. I think they are awesome. Didn't realize there were others out there. Maybe it's not as rare an item as I thought it was.

quote:Well, just because I have one doesn't mean it isn't. I think I posted it to a thread several years ago, and no one said they had anything like it. You are the only person I've seen say they even know what it is, much less have one. They're plaster, so pretty fragile. Most of them have likely been destroyed.
