I hope he gets this resolved. He has done things the right way and his family deserves to stay. We could use more people like him. I think it's easy to lose sight of how fortunate we are to be living in this country.

that is the nicest family i've ever met. I did a retreat with his mom, went to school with his brother, and have talked to anthony plenty of times. This would be a crime if it happened.

So I just talked to my girlfriend and she informed me that there was an extension filed by the American Immigration Lawyers Association while Bush was in office. Hopefully Obama will make a move on this, although IF Liberia has improved he may not feel like its warranted since TPS is Temporary.

I hope they get to stay for numerous reasons. But like one of the comments on the story, I have to wonder why none of them have applied for US citizenship?

Well, they have to be qualified for some type of change of status, which isn't always the easiest thing to do.
Perhaps 1 of you have a sister that is looking to get married. That would be a start.

I went to HS with Anthony. He is a great guy of high character and a huge heart. Shame if he has to leave.

I called my Congressman on this morning as well as the Senator from RHode Island is mentioned
People besides calling their Congressman should Congressman Cao in New Orleans and alert him to this. He was a immigration lawyer and advocate.
Further people need to call the Dicoese of Baton Rouge and their immigration Office and see if they are applying pressure

In response the citizenship question, you can't be naturalized while on a temporary visa. I don't quite understand why, but that's the law.
It really bothers me that this family of law-abiding, tax-paying, contributing members of society is having to work harder to stay here than 15 million illegals.

Well, to be honest, when he recieves his papers he doesn't have to leave. He too could be like the 15 million undocumented immigrants in America. No one will forcibly remove him at this point.

I talked to Anthony just a minute ago and he said that a lot of good things happened today that could allow his family to stay. A few US Senators signed a letter that Obama is going to review and he said this is the quickest way for things to move forward. Though there's nothing definite yet, things are moving in a positive direction for his family.

Very good news indeed, thank you for the update. I had seen the piece on WAFB yesterday.
