that's like saying (for a game against TT):

stop the pass = victory ... we have 3 weeks to learn to stop the pass

... the reason GT doesn't pass the ball much is that we don't have to. and the one interception during the U(sic)GA game was a hail mary right before the end of the first half, so not really indicative of performance.

Don't you think if LSU was able to have a RB get 200+ yards with an average of over 16/ carry in a game, they would just keep running and not pass?

That's really a poor example.

We routinely stop riding the hot RB in lieu of a fresh RB. We also like to mix in the pass when we can run it anytime just to keep defenses honest.

this thread is the epitome of "ranter" and proves in every way shape and for that most "rantards" have no fricking clue what they're talking about.

"They're one dimensional so we can beat them!!"

I didn't even read the whole thread. Someone HAD to have said "the triple option would never work in the SEC!"

No, that's the last thing we would do. We much prefer to have a RB get about 100 yards in the first half and put us in the lead, then not give him a single carry in the second half while we blow the lead and lose.

Ga Tech = ONE DIMENSIONAL
QB Josh Nesbit - 46/99 for 658 yds, 2TDs, 4INTs

Out of the 46 completions, 36 have been completed to Demaryius Thomas.

All GT Running Backs Combined - 600 carries for 3388 yds, 5.6 YPC, and 32 TDs

stop the run = victory...we have 3 weeks to learn to stop the option

TRY TELLING THAT TO THE 9 TEAMS THAT LOST TO GT.....

IMO, this is the worst matchup....except maybe Texas Tech, that we could have drawn.

We the way we have played on D most of the year, it will be embrassing what GT does to us. I see 600 yards of offense on the horizon if we don't make a serious change......whjich we haven't done all year.

We will either play a soft zone and get burned on the ground, or stack the line and blow our coverages after we bite on play action. It's gonna be a long day. Our defense couldn't stay home if it were on house arrest.

The TRIPLE option is far from one dimensional.

I'll agree with that ... so what if it's all statistically in rushing yards. It is designed to keep the defense off balance, which is what a good mix of pass and run does too.

A similar situation would be a team that mixes up screens, shuffle passes, and downfield passes. It all ends up as passing yards, but if you execute all three well, the defense can be easily confounded by it.

Point taken!

A few more "tidbits" for you to consider:

1) GA Tech was projected to win three games all year and finish next to last in our ACC Division

2) GA Tech installed a brand new offense (Triple Option), using players recruited for totally different style (Pro-Style) of play

3) GA Tech installed a brand new dew defense

4) GA Tech played with a limited number of scholarship players due to NCAA sanctions, players transferring with new coaches/personal reasons, players quitting football due to medical and academic reasons, etc.

5) GA Tech suffered numerous injuries to key players, at key times, during the course of the year, forcing GA Tech to play with several second and third team players, many of which were Scout and walk-on players

6) GA Tech ended the season with 75 underclassmen playing, including 16/22 starters who are freshmen and sophomores

7) GA Tech will start next year with only seven seniors on the team

8) GA Tech had 12 games with 64 plays that went for 20 or more yards

9) GA Tech had 9 scoring drives that took 1 minute or less

10) ACC Coach of the Year (Paul Johnson)

11) ACC Offensive Player of the Year (Jonathan Dwyer)

12) ACC Player of the Year (Jonathan Dwyer)

13) ACC 2008 James E. Tatum Award Winner (Darryl Richard)

14) BCS 3rd leading rushing offense (282/game)

15) BCS 14th leading rusher (Jonathan Dwyer – 1328 total, 110.7/game, 7.0 avg./12TD)

16) BCS 5th leading QBRat (Jaybo Shaw – 194.0) Yes, Virginia, GA Tech CAN throw when necessary!

17) BCS leading Pass Interceptor (Morgan Burnett - 7, tied with 3 others)

18) GA Tech is 2 -0 against the SEC this year, averaging 40+ in scoring against them
