For me it was his first game as head coach. 2005 against Arizona State. On our first possession ASU had stopped us and it was fourth down. Les called for a fake punt and we got a first down. That's when you knew the guy had a pair of testicles(later referred to as Lesticles) on him.

I'm pretty sure Les didn't call that. Chris Jackson did that on his own when he saw there was no one on Ronnie Prude.

His first one at home, the loss to Tennessee. His team due to the effects of Katrina and Rita had absolutely nothing in the tank during the second half and he did his best to hang on and get the win. When he caught hell for the loss, he took the entire blame and made no excuses, even though there were plenty as a result of Katrina and Rita. When something bad happens, he takes the bullets. When something good happens he praises his players and coaches.

I'll be honest my first impression of Les was not a good one.
I remember when ESPN went to one of the early 2005 practices, prior to Katrina and during a break, he was talking to Mark May and Bill Curry, an assistant runs over unscrews the cap off a zinc oxide tube hands it to him, he puts white stuff all over his nose like a lifegaurd then hands it back to her for her to put the top back on and run off.
I saw that and said "Awe hell no. This guy is a prima donna." The Madonna headset just reinforced my opinion.
It wasn't until he came out of the locker room for the 2nd half of the 06 Tenn game and verbally assaulted that poor little reporter that my opinion of him began to change.
I think I was really sold after the arse whipping we layed on Virginia Tech because that was the first time he took an "elite" coach to the woodshed and it obvious from the first snap that we were the better prepared team.

momentum of that game had shifted completely to the hogs and without TH's return and a few time consuming drives we clearly lose that game IMO
Until McFadden's 80-yard run in the fourth quarter, LSU had scored the last 10 points of the game, and had outscored Arkansas 24-6 since the opening drive of the game. Arkansas had no momentum, we had it all. McFadden's run changed that for about 15 seconds, when Holliday's return negated it. They regained it with Jones' big return deep into our territory, but their reliance on the run game did them in, forcing them to use up five crucial minutes to drive 30 yards for the score. On the ensuing possession, we only got one first down (with a pass on third and long), but it was enough to leave them no more time for the running game, forcing them to throw on their final possession. That was our only "drive" after McFadden's run, and they certainly had no momentum prior to that.

Tenn had to fly down the DAY of the game!!! I understand the effects from a REGINAL standpoint!! But Tenn came into something THEY had NEVER had to do before!!!

Peach Bowl 2005. I though Miami would be a tough opponent. We man handled them. Looking back it doesn't look impressive but at the time I was pumped!

I really didn't want to jump in here on this, but a plane ride vs the IV's and whatever else was going on @ LSU,does not equate. It's not even a close comparison. I think the on field results of the rest of '05 for LSU and UT show who was affected worse by Katrina and Rita during that game.

Duh, I meant '05.
We went on as a better team than UT and played like it for the rest of the year 2005. UT and Clausen could not do that again in 9 more tries in a 10 game series of the same exact teams. They caught us at the perfect moment for them to steal one.

Was conditioning / losing 7 lbs per player on average a factor at all?

Has to happen sometime. Why not now when they are in the middle of huge offensive changes and new coaches. This is the year, tiger.

I was sold on Les a few minutes before the 2007 SEC Championship game.
It was a Great day.
+1. Im convinced he orchestrated that to get the team fired up. He is a master of mind games and using the media to his advantage.
To play devil's advocate here, if he loses another game last year or Pitt loses, do you think he would be nearly as popular? I think Miles still has his biggest tests ahead of him.
