If there is an archive of old posts from 2006 and 2005 you can verify that I have been saying this all along.
then you've been wrong more than you've been right. wish we could hire fans as quickly as fans bail on their coaches.

Lester, I didn't say he didn't accomplish some great things so far, but none of them were without coaching issues.
He's made numerous mistakes, some that many coaches would, and some I honestly think any good coach wouldn't even potentially come near. He's done a great job with players that were great leaders when he got here. Fisher seemed to develop QBs quite well if you don't remember.
On defense, it seems that this team lacks leadership and respect for Miles and much of the respect they had before was for the leaders already on the team in JR, Flynn, Dorsey, Steltz, Landry, Daniels, etc. All those guys were Saban holdovers and Fisher Holdovers. They were able to keep things together.
In the end, you can tell there are no true leaders on either side of the ball for this team.
Again, Miles has done great things, but it was pretty damn good talent he had coming in that was developed partly already.

A I think he's a good recruiter but... he inherited a BOAT LOAD of talent. And... he has gotten his share of breaks including last year. How likely is it that a 2 loss team plays for the NC? And, we got lucky against Bama last year. If JPW doesn't fumble at the end, they beat us. The thing that I see on the field is a lack of discipline. We have penalties like illegal substitution, delay of game because a play didn't called in time way too often. It's a reflection of a lack of discipline.

C. He isn't the problem. You'll all be right back on his nuts after next season
Posted on 11/23/08 at 8:09 pm to GeauxBob
you people are idiots i guess all of you could make the play calls and know exactly what to do all the time in every play calling situation. get real who else do you think we can get and is available. nobody would want to come if we let the coach with the best finish ranking and record finish in a three year history. just shut the hell it up and lets wait and see what happens next year and then you can judge.

as long as we're playing the game of "ifs", if we make a field goal this year, or if Lee didn't throw the pick 6, we win this year. Bottom line is that Nick was outplayed and outcoached this year.

I never have and never will be a fan for Les Miles. I can understand the problem with the offense and not having a quarterback. Its things out of his control.
All summer long we were hearing how great our defense is going to be this year and is really going to be the back bone of the team along with the offensive Line. If that is the case than why in the hell does Georgia hang 51, Florida hang 52, Troy hang 31 (in one half) and Ole Piss hangs 31 as well. Explain dat!
Secondly, I have never seen a coach in my life make as little sense as he does when he does the half time interview on National TV. HE ALWAYS SAYS, "we have a couple of things we need to change and we need to get back to playing LSU football. Our boys will get it together and come out and play LSU football the second half" when I hear that shite everygame and then I turn it on Oklahoma and see stoops do a great interview or Leach at Texas Tech, or Meyer at Florida it makes me sick to my stomach to think were paying this guy millions to get out coached EVERY WEEK

I am just saying that their have been serious issues with his coaching since he's been here.
until this year, no there has not. Even so, the "serious issues" have not had serious consequences until this year.

anyone who has answered A, please list your top 3 coaches in college football.
1) Nick Saban
2) Urban Meyer... bad as I hate it.
3) Jim Tressel

Pete Carroll is better than all 3 of them.

I've been saying it since he was hired. Bad Hire. The man is clueless and it was evident his first game in Tiger Stadium.
I agree...

Alright Lester, I have been A from day one on this. I've never liked the Miles hire, but I've given him a chance. I've made my criticisms of him and given him praise when deserved. I was happy for LSU last year, but I wasn't excited. While proud for our team, we backed into the title game, and anyone who says differently is a mook. There is nothing wrong with accepting that last year's NC had more luck involved in it than any imaginable.
We won because of talent and coaching the previous 3 years, I agree. We also won because of Leadership from players that Miles didn't get to first. Miles has been the reason we have won several games, and he's been the reason we've lost several games. This team looks a lot more like Miles' Okie State teams that had less talent. That is what scares me.
He's a good coach, and no one will say otherwise, but he has serious issues with discipline, leadership, favoritism, personnel decisions, and playcalling/game management, which are all showing this season.
Knowing he's an offensive guy, he chose to cut down on his defensive coaching staff (as Bo left) and instead of replacing him with a new DC, he just took 75% of our staff from last year and let them run it. This was utterly stupid and shows Miles lack of common sense.
We have 1 quality win all season. ONE! Our schedule ended up being a joke, and please don't give me the Bama was better than everyone thought. Bama is 11-0 because the toughest teams on their schedule all ended up sucking this year. Including UGA, LSU, Auburn, and Clemson. Tulane played them as hard as those schools.
Overall, in a year when the SEC as a whole is crap, we end up 3rd in our division at best. Third with the most talent in the division by a clear margin.
Good post

B) I have been a fan of Miles all along, but the recent issues have me greatly doubting him
I have been a fan of Miles along, but I don't really doubt him, so much as I think LSU should just give him an ultimatum--fire Mallory and Peveto or get fired yourself. Unfortunately, no first-year AD like Alleva is going to have the nut sack to actually do that, but Miles really needs to hire a great DC.
If he does that, I want him to coach at LSU for as long as possible. If he doesn't, I want him fired. It's really as simple as that.

2005 - Top 5 finish
2006 - Sugar Bowl Title and Top 5 finish
2007 - BCS Championship
With talent & leadership from a previous coach.

chickenshit. Miles developed the talent and leadership from those players. Ask anyone in Miami what kind of leadership Saban inspires.

This isn't about comparing Miles to Saban. I'm just saying that last year we should have lost to Bama which would have eliminated us from the national title picture. You're right.. we can play the "what if's" I think Miles is a good man... average coach... even before the co-defensive coordinator deal.
