re: Go on record on Miles --- Choice A, B or C

Stevo... I disagree... Miles just managed the talent. You are probably right on Saban's lack of leadership in Miami... But let's be honest here... he admitted he was like a fish out of water there.

Well, hell if talent and leadership by the players is all that's needed to get three top 5 finishes in a row, including a #1, then why do these schools spend all that money on coaches. They should just hire recruiters and let the players take it from there.

Stevo, they certainly did have issues that cost us all three seasons.
In 2005, his lack of coaching in the Tennessee and UGA games cost us both games, but I give him a break on the UGA one.
In 2006, the whole team imploded against UF and Miles couldn't bring them together. We lost to Auburn because of stubbornness.
In 2007, despite winning the BCS championship that we were lucky to get in to, we lost to two inferior teams where in both cases the mistakes by players were inexcusable and largely due to coaching. Even the Bama game was ridiculous. UF needed a fluke INT off someone's helmet, and so forth.
Now every coach gets breaks, but not like Les last year. He's been outcoached 3 out of 4 games by Nutt, and actually almost 4 games if not for Holiday's kick return in 2006.
His timeouts in the Bama game showed his gametime brainfarts. Seriously.
In the end, I don't want Les fired, he doesn't deserve to be fired in any way shape or form at this point. He does need to shape things up or be ready to get run out though if things aren't different next season if we have say a losing record. If we have two seasons of 7-5 or less after this year, he should also potentially be let go.
But as of now, unless we go 3-9 next year without all types of injuries and fluke incidents, then he should remain the coach.

unfair. He's coached the players during the time he's been here as much Tressel, Meyer, or Carroll managed their players.

B if there aren't major changes on defense. we need a new defensive system. The SEC has had 4 years to adjust to Pelini's system, and this year we have position coaches running the scheme. Even Sylvester Croom said that it isn't what Bo used to run. It's time for a change. I hope Miles can make that decision.

B, but to a lesser degree than "greatly"
like a previous poster said, what Miles does over the offseason and how the 2009 season goes is very crucial imo

I'm going to have to call BS on this.... This is truly Miles's first year with his own recruits. This is probably what the future of LSU football will look like.

A, and according to others, Stevo, etc, that makes me a bandwagoner.

A.
I wouldn't call it "what I expected"...more like "what I've been fearing since the day we hired him."
As to people not saying negative things about Miles, there have been a few.
Seems to me that anyone in the last 3 years who tried to bash a decision by Miles, was immediately attacked by about 30 pro-Miles posters. I find it funny that "positigers" are now bitching about people who have not been vocally negative of Miles...because they have not been vocally negative of Miles.
And of course nobody is going to bitch about big wins. At the same time, I suspect that many have feared, as I have, that Miles was living off talent and success from the Saban years. Which is fine. If Miles hires a top rate D coordinator in the offseason, maybe we will once again be dominant. That's what I hope for. But you know what? I bet he doesn't. He's one for three. 1) Mallaveto and 2)...remember that old fart he had as a DC at Okie St? Remember when this board nearly meltdown a month after Miles was hired because everyone thought he was bringing the second coming of Tepper? Well, it turns out he did...just not at that time.

C if he loses the DCs and hires someone (1) with a clue about pass defense.

Alright, from what I've read on this post, Miles shouldn't have lost a game since he was hired. He has done nothing since he was here, it was all Saban's doings. Many weren't excited after winning the NC last year. Miles is an idiot that can't run a team or hire coaches. And to top it off, so many have had all these wonderful beliefs from day one and could have so helped out our AD if only he had consulted their wealth of wisdom and knowledge. I honestly don't think I've ever read so much hockey in all my life. Just when you think you've heard it all....this post reveals even more. Some of you people scare me, you honestly do.

D) Miles won me over with gutsy efforts the first two years--especially the hurricane season of 2005--and last years NC sealed the deal. I have confidence that he will right the ship.

1) I had some concern about Miles as an unknown early on
2) I have been very impressed with his body of work in the first full three seasons
3) I am disapointed with the team this year
That is all
