Well i think that it would make a HUGE statement winning out this year. We almost beat Bama, and had some miscues against a great Florida team but we are still very, very good.

Next year the schedule is tough, but we will be so much more solidified at the qb position, we will be favored in most every game(if not every game). Think about it: We've got UF at their place, breaking in a new quarterback. We've got Bama and Ole Miss at home, which is a huge advantage in itself. I know I sound like a saints fan saying this but I think next year is our year.

I'm just optimistic about the rest of this season. I think we'll kick some arse and our defense will get its confidence and mean streak back tonight. And I think Shepard will get a couple of scores tonight as well!

Can't wait for tonight!

I don't like this statement. It's giving up on this year. We're in position to go 11-2 and finish top 5. It's too early to be talking about next year.

Well frick man didn't you read any of my posts? I said like six times that we will finish up strong(including in this post). I just threw in there that i think next year we will be very, very good. Chill

I'm well aware. But let's worry about next year in mid-January, right? It's not like there's a shortage of excitement this year.

You said it perfectly, Cheetah Flex. Great post. If LSU wins out and finishes the year strongly, it will be reminiscent of the 2006 squad -- and we all know what happened in 2007!

Don't get your hopes up too much. It will in fact be very competetive.

Cheetah Flex exactly exactly exactly!!!

The only thing I could possibly disagree with is that Loston would have played this year had he not been for his wrist.

It can still be competative and we can dominate. Our D is playing to good right now to allow Snead to be good. Our secondary is nasty.

I think they have to finish strong to give them the best shot at going to the NCG next year. We all know how critical it is to begin the season highly ranked. I expect to win out this year and come out next year with a vengeance.

From chilge1:

Screw that! We can be optimistic about next season while still focusing and celebrating tonight's game and the rest of the year.

Set your own deadline for when you're going to start "worrying" (use of that word gives you away) about next year. We're also capable of enjoying whatever excitement we have ahead this year.

How LSU finishes this year has a huge impact on 2010. We still have a shot at the Sugar Bowl or a non-BCS but high-profile bowl game. I don't trust Miles on everything he says, but he is our head coach and he's been saying all week there's still much to play for, and how this season concludes will carry over to next year.

Don't believe Miles? Then check out what S. Ridley said in a story in today's Times-Picayune:

Ridley said an SEC swoon at this point would damage not just this team but LSU teams future and past.
"That will justify what they say if we go out there and lose to Ole Miss and Arkansas and Louisiana Tech--that we just give in," he said. "But that's never been the way here."

BTW, this thread's title is "Good days are ahead, fellas!" I'm not asking you to go away or calling you an idiot or moron for posting on it, but why are you here if you have a self-imposed time line when you're able to begin thinking, worrying, or whatever about 2010?

I don't like this statement. It's giving up on this year. We're in position to go 11-2 and finish top 5. It's too early to be talking about next year.

I disagree. I felt like next years team would be better than this years team before the season began. But I still was hoping that things would pan out and we would win the BCSNC this season.

I agree, Bama and Florida lose a ton of seniors on Defense and Offense. Saban will finally not have Shula's players anymore.
