Some new wrinkles in the scheme, House sent Burns a few times on a safety blitz.

Sent Weeks up the middle too for a sack. I think he wants to do a lot more of that and will continue to as the CBs develop and can be trusted more in man. Getting pressure from Wingo and Maason up the middle will open those up as well as long as Savion sets the edge as well as he did Saturday. He had struggled with that the 1st 2 games.

Speaking of Savion, he had an outstanding game against MSU. Several times he forced plays inside for the DTs and Penn to clean up. He had a couple nice tackles himself. There was a lot of talk the 1st 2 weeks about him being a bit of a disappointment, that he had put on too much weight and was slow. He did struggle setting the edge, especially against Florida State. And he did gain a good bit of weight and is a step slower this year. But that’s what House wants from his SDE. They’re not typically gonna have a whole lot of stats in his scheme. That’s not their job. Savion’s job is to set the edge, force runs back inside, keep the QB from getting out of the pocket, and stop the run when he can. He’ll probably manhandle a RT or 2 and have 4-5 sacks and a few TFLs. But that’s really lagniappe. That position is designed to do the thankless dirty work, not get double digit sacks. He could have an outstanding game and an outstanding season, and you probably wouldn’t really know it just by looking at the stat sheet.

It felt so good hearing those stupid arse cowbells subside that game

I was at the 2017 game. Words cannot fully describe how much I hate those cowbells. Beating them to the point that the cowbells get quiet brings me real satisfaction.

He’s the only guy I’ve seen in a while that isn’t totally out of the play if he misses his first attempt at the QB. He’s so elusive.

I wish we could get his highlights dubbed over with Bobby Boucher sounds.

I think the guy in that tiger gif actually died. Or so I read somewhere on the internet.

Not a whole lot of 6’0” 240 edge guys in the NFL

Guess you never heard of James Harrison. Perkins is closer to 6'2" rather than 6'0" but yes he is smaller in height than most edge players but his burst, bend, and lateral movement can make up for the lack of height. Also adding the weight does not necessarily mean you lose your burst or acceleration. Von Miller is a great example of this but again his skillset is best suited for an edge player and adding more muscle to his frame will allow for the every down edge ability.
