Generally true, but there are exceptions, especially in some proper names where the “s” is pronounced as in “Arras.”

What in the actual frick. That's that greek crap. Down here the only cush cush is cornmeal cooked in a cast iron skillet served with milk or coffee-milk.

LOL...I am not trying to slam your t-paw...
This isn't anything I have ever had...im just relating it to something familiar. No harm meant.
The recipe listed is basically polenta with some things added to make it a breakfast food.

And sometimes it was served cold with meat or fish.
What's the difference between meat and fish?

Coonasses and Creoles are the only things that make Louisiana different from Mississippi.
OP’s cheer is focused on our Cajun heritage. While it’s not understood as much anymore and it hardly gets the crowd pumped, I always smile when I hear it. Too much of our heritage has been dismissed or forgotten.
I, too, learned the cheer as, “Allons, Tigers” But my great grandmother, didn’t speak English at all so I grew up speaking Ca-FrEnglish.

Some say regrettably. More coonasses would mean less libs.
