Stopping the Triple option is assignment football.
1. THe linebackers responsibility is to take the dive man (fullback)
2. The defensive end's responsibility is to CRUSH the quarterback EVERY PLAY even if he does not have the ball you crush the quarter back so he knows its coming every play you take away his OPTION
3. Outside linebacker / cornerback Comes up and crushes the pitch man EVERY PLAY even if he does not have the ball CRUSH HIM. He will be looking for the hit rather than the ball and there is your turn over.
Stopping the triple option is assignment football and that is why we will have trouble stopping it. If our defensive end comes out and tries to intercept the pitch and does not CRUSH the quarterback every play we will have a very difficult time stopping it. NO DISCIPLINE will allow the triple option to be successful
