If you fire them, who do you want to call the defense? Earl Lane?
They didn't deserve to be fired in mid-season.
They didn't deserve to be fired in mid-season.

Well, it's been said over and over on here. Everyone knew that was the case without the quote but thanks.

Its a pretty hard call.Do you think firing them could have made our defense any worse?
Possibly, who knows. But i would bet that Les knew halfway through the season that they werent going to be our DC's this year. Firing them mid season would not have done anyone any good.

Firing them mid season is tricky business. Big Les should always have a plan. He shoulda put on the DC hat and went wild with it.

Firing them in midseason would be highly unprofessional and Miles could have damaged his image/reputation by doing so and it might have impacted future employees.
Who wants to work for a coach that will fire you in midseason?

Who said Miles should have fired them midseason?

I don't think anyone directly said it but someone asked you if you would have rather that happened and I proceeded to join in on that aspect.
I think Miles did it the right way. I don't know that Earl Lane could have called the defense better and considering Miles' background is offense, I don't think he could have either.
Miles did it the right way as far as dealing with the situation, IMHO.

Les Miles failed our team last year with those idiots. No matter how good or bad his coaches are, he stands around and lets them run the show.
No doubt.
This is on Les.
But he owned up to it.
And has hopefully righted the ship.
If the defense comes back this year he will deserve a lot of credit

Kinda worried that Les Miles put those morons in charge of the D and they fell on their faces that quickly. His eval of those coaches was not on the money. However, He fixed the problem quickly and at this point he didnt make the same mistake this time.

Kind of like someone commenting on a second marriage: 'NOW I'm happy. This wife is not like the first one. This marriage will last..."
Only time will tell if the new one (coaching staff) will work, or if all this is just blowing smoke.
That being said, I do believe we are in a much better situation with the new coaches - but the proof has to show on the field.
this +1,000

Don't mark something up, just to mark it down and call it a sale.
Those clowns had no business in those roles on that staff. Period.

I can't find the link, but it's been said before on here that Les was going for continuity on defense after Pelini left.
Remember, we had the exact same defensive staff as when we won the BCS title, minus Pelini. The difference was with the cat away, the blind mice couldn't play.

The "continuity" thing pisses me off but then minus the Ga tech game, the whole season did. Like everyone has said the Malveto experiment was an utter failure. Thankfully Miles seems to have corrected the situation. If he didn't he'd be looking for new job sooner rather than later.

After the nightmare 2008 season we all thought "Les better get rid of these coordinators." Mainly because we all had flashbacks of Dinardo and his monster, Lou Tepper. I did at least. I thought he needs to get rid of these guys or they are going to bring him down and out of B.R.
But Les fixed the problem. How much he fixed it will remain to be seen.
Les was not stubborn about it. He knew there was an issue and he took all responsibility. Classy way of handling it.
