sometimes you win some times you lose. We destroyed Notre Dame in a bowl game in 06 then came back the next year to win the west, then the SEC, and ultimately the NC.

This has been addressed over and over again. This program was pretty consistent over the last few years. We have not come close to a West Title in 2 years going 8-8 in the SEC. In the meantime Saban has dominated going 17-1 and 16-0 in the regular season. I don't see how getting dominated every year in overall record for the West Title is acceptable? Is it OK as a fan to expect LSU to win a West Title every 3 years? The program was at a very high level and at least every other year we were close or winning a West Title. My feeling is what you have seen the last 2 years is an indication of how it is going to be in the immediate future (4-5 years). Miles is going to lose at least 2-4 games a year and Saban will lose half as many even if he loses to LSU. Miles won't be able to keep up with Saban IMO. The margin for error is too small for Les.
Saban coached at LSU, the best he did was a one loss CO-National Champ, other than that the mighty one lost at least 3 games a year. He is having a great run at Bama but NEVER put back to back great seasons at LSU.
Les put together 3 great years, a horrible 4th year, and a good year. Hell he may have lost 2 games winning the BCSNC, but he didn't split it with anyone.
If you can't see he did a better job this year even with our poor offense you are a fool. The man deserves the chance to make another run.
If Saban can keep up his current winning, something he has never done anywere else, then you might be right. Then again it might be Miles year for a special season.

1st off open your eyes. Les had to have a perfect storm in 07 because he lost 2 games. If you go back and look at the roster in 06 and 07 you will see NFL players all over the team. Miles is a good coach, not a great coach. The same cant be said for saban and meyer. Like I said eariler with every thing being equal we get out coached 70% of the time in the big games that would get us to the SECCG.

Great post. Jesus serving gumbo now that is funny.
Everyone forgets who sucks Saban that he got flat arse lucky to beat Tenn this year. Go see Nick's comments after the game. I would think we had a shot at holding on with Jefferson in the game and a healthy Patrick Peterson. Now the Les bashers will pull facts out and utilize them to support their argument as they have done since day 1. He won the national championship but he had 2 losses. This is just retarded and a complete failure to accept a fact. He won the damn national championship. We were the best and won it all. Guess what everyone other damn team lost 2 or more that particular year so WTF. I guess the Steelers won the Super Bowl last year but ????
Is Lester perfect? Hell no. But time has a way off leveling off BS -- I think Les will win another NC within the next couple years and there is sure to be bitching and complaining at that time as well. LSU has some whiny arse fans.
You were correct to point out the bitching about Skip in 2001 and look at the complaining already on Trent Johnson -- stunning. Les has a better record playing in the same conference as Nick over a long period of time (5 years) and still complete lack of willingness to accept that les can get it done. He may sound like Elmer Fudd but he can get it done overall.
Did he screw up Ole Miss? Yes but guess what coaches screw up time management all the damn time. shite happens fast and gut calls go wrong. Remember a certain genuis who screwed up on the final play of the game in our last visit to the Cap One Bowl? I do -- I was there. The genuis screwed up big time. How about playing a little prevent -- its the last damn play of the game. Everyone blamed it on the players. It wasn't Nick's fault for heavens sake.
I've said it before and I will say it again the constant Les is a dumbass and here are my reasons why is as stupid as Nick is a dumbass and here are my reasons why. Both guys can coach and have been productive in the SEC. Telling me Nick is a prick and failed in the NFL is a waste of time. Telling me Les needs hooked on phonics in the worst way as a reason why he can't coach is retarded.
Go read our new WR coach from Fla.'s comments after a week on the job. Lester is well respected in the coaching commmunity and he can really recruit. Does he run his program different than Nick? YES. He is more of a CEO type boss and Nick is a detailed freak. Both can work and do work as far producing positive results.

We were considered sleeping giants before 2003. I hope we stop snoozing soon...maybe the 2011 class will wake us up!!

I am in the group of fans who blame the last two years on one thing & one thing only... the dismissal of Ryan Perrilloux from the LSU football team. So as for the future, since I believe the last two years would have been SECCG seasons with a good QB, I believe LSU will return to SECW champs in the next two years.

With Saban at Bama I see this program being similar to Tennesee under Philip Fulmer. Consistent 9 to 10 win seasons with an ocassional appearence in the SEC title game. As long as Nicky is at Bama we will play second fiddle. The LSU fanbase will ultimately have to decide if they are going to support that kind of program or not. Personally I don't want to play second fiddle to anyone especially the gumps r but the realist in me tells me the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

They will be a dangerous team that will show flashes of greatness but find ways to lose games.
That is the sad reality of the situation.

We'll be a little better than middle of the pack as long as recruiting doesn't drop off. If we can't make better use of our talent (and develop the O-line) we'll continue winning and losing ugly... Petrino's teams are going to get better as will Auburn's over the next couple of years. Going to be mediocre.
Amazing how little time it takes to fall back to the middle of the pack.

And we thought the same thing last year about smashing GaTech.

Depends on the D. I know. Our O was enept, but D dictates the game. If we continue to bend and not break what good is our O on the sidelines for 14 plays? Lets watch closly today if Chavis turns the D loose on 3rd downs or wastes at least 4 players in zone D and allows PS to convert on 3rd downs.
