LSU's coaching poor execution in the second half against NC, not having them ready to finish them off almost cost them that game, they very well could be 1-1. thankgod, there not!

man, if a team is loaded with talent and not playin up to their capabilities, why in tha frick should they be ranked higher? answer that smart arse?

I don't think the coaches watch many games other than those of future opponents but that still doesn't justify your OP.
The teams with wins more impressive than LSU are Michigan, Ok, Ohio State, USCe, Boise St and James Madison (j/k).
If teams were ranked early by performance we'd be higher. If you can't get on board with that, go away.

What you're saying, in other words, is that if LSU had a better coaching staff they should be ranked much higher.

what I'm sayin is the coaches can see the talent as well as everyone else in the country, but they are not playin up to their potential, both NC and Vandy should have been blowouts, it's the same old same, and yes it has to do with coaching!

Oh, believe me, I'm not letting Miles and Crowton off the hook.
But I do think LSU should be ranked around 15 or so right now based on its performance compared to the rest of college football.
I'm not seeing much special in college football outside of Alabama and maybe Ohio State right now.

It's good to be relevant, beats being out of the Top 25 during most of the 80s and 90s. LSU is now getting more of the benefit of the doubt in rankings, just like the ND, Michigan and Bamas of the world. It used to be LSU would have to work their way into Top 25, that isn't the case anymore.

Really, there's only about 6-8 "imopressive teams". After that, you can rank 'em however you want.
Seriously, who do you rank after Bama, tOSU, TCU, Oregon, Oklahoma, Iowa, and then maybe Boise and South Carolina? Have you SEEN Texas? Florida? Even Nebraska? No one looks good right now.

Running the ball and playing defense will get you far in the rankings, especially if you're in the SEC. Also, the ACC had 5 ranked teams lose in the polls in week 2.
Tidbits:
LSU went 8/16 in 3rd down conversions (best in SEC this week)
LSU ranked #33 in total defense nationally
LSU ranked #4 in rushing defense, #24 in scoring defense, #2 in sacks, #4 in tackles for loss, and #7 in defense 3rd down efficiency.
