.....I watched unranked LSU beat #1 Arkansas in the 1966 Cotton Bowl 14-7. Arkansas had won 22 games in arow to that point. The most memorable things about that game were Joe Labruzzo running off tackle five straight times (#5 was a TD), qb play by pat screen, stellar defense and the coaching done by cholly mac and staff.

I was born in New Orleans and I am definitely a Heinz 57. Mom is from MS and a big Ole Miss fan and Dad is from Chicago, big Notre Dame fan, but was converted to a Tulane fan when he started school there. We had a cousin who played at Ole Miss in the 60s, but at that time we were die hard Tulane fans.

I moved to BR in the late 70s but didn't go to a game until around '84. I know it was an Ole Miss game, but I can't remember the coaches/players, etc.. I remember the atmosphere! It was awesome and I was 90% hooked.

Here's what sealed it:
My younger brother was playing at a MS JUCO in the mid 80s. We thought it would be wonderful if he could play at LSU - Son of a gun, they were recruiting him. Those Arnsparger years were fun fun fun! I've been hooked 150% since then.

......when I started going to basketball games around 3 years old. I gotta give credit to Shaq....he was the first LSU athlete I was a huge fan of.

As for football I always loved it but became a fanatic when I was an usher in the boy scouts. We would show people to their seats for the first half of the game and the rest of the game we were free to roam around the stadium. I have a ton of memories of looking for seats with my friends to watch the second half. The game that sticks out the most was the bring back the magic game. After half time and I was free to go I found my Mom and Dad and watched the rest of a now legendary game. The best part is my Mom got me a 12" x 12" aerial photo of that game for Christmas that year and it hangs on the wall above my bed right now.

good times? The Hallman years?

Little before Hallman. The first real coach I knew of was Stovall. I got lucky when one year our yearly trek to BR was to the Florida State Orange Bowl game. That was one of my best memories.......that and beating Bama in Legion Field in the Bear's last year. We went to every LSU game in Legion Field since I was born.

May 6, 1968 at England Air Force Base, when I drew my first breath.

Dad, from Mobile played at Auburn, hated LSU til the day he died.

I guess I just wasn't a chip off the ol Block. At least my younger brother was worse. He grew up a Bammer. Needless to say, there were plenty of knock down drag outs growing up.

I now have passed the LSU fever down to my son, but my brother, for some reason married an Aubie, and has two sons one Bammer and one Aubie in the house.

Family gatherings are never boring.

Forever LSU!

He is a great person. He coached Muscle Shoals high school until this past year. Met him there a few years ago....BTW, even he thinks Hallman jokes are funny.

My freshman year in 2001 when LSU played Auburn and the Auburn players decided to be cheap and pick a fight with the band during their performance. I wish the crowd would have stormed the field at that moment instead of later when LSU whipped em. My dad had always told me about a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, but because we we moved around so much in the military, I never was able to go until the Auburn game.

And you brag about this? You really need to get your freaking priorities in order.

I dunno dude, my wife and I just split up after 6 1/2 years of marriage. Not for that reason, but she didn't like LSU or the fact that I went to the home games. So I've already convinced myself, that next time around, she MUST enjoy LSU football and tailgating. I've seen to many damn women pass by our tailgating area who love LSU football to settle for another women who hates it.

2 sides to this argument:

Yes it is great to share passions. To have your wife enjoy LSU football as much as you and to be at all tailgates and games you attend.

On the other hand, perhaps it is better to have something that is yours alone. You just have to make sure that she is alright with that going into it and change is not happening.

My wife is not a huge LSU fan and doesn't really enjoy tailgating, but she does understand my passion for it.

I think everyone needs their space, but that's just my opinion.

My Uncle Charley (A big wheel Alabama supporter and friend of Bear Bryant) would get us tickets starting in the mid-60's to the LSU-Bama game in Tiger Stadium. The tickets were always in the Bama section next to TMDB. That started it and I continued it in HS and then spent 8 freaking seasons as a GBFTL Bass Drummer. Yep, I did the Pre-Game Bass Drum beat for 6 of those 8 seasons........

I always rooted for LSU of course, but until I went to the Bring Back the Magic Game in 1995 I followed the Saints and NFL more. Not after that game.
