We had a 10 win season but the way that the SEC shook down this year resulted in us being the #3 SEC West team. Some years a 10 win season will get you into the Sugar Bowl.

10 wins today = 8 wins in the 1970's. Get real, we scheduled cream puffs. that is how we "brought back the magic".

Why would you turn down the higher paying bowl and the game that has the highest selection in the SEC after the BCS???

I think Cotton would be more fun and exciting.

Even with the lower payout. It's a better stage, but that's just my opinion.

Overall I think the CapOne remains the most prestigious of the non-BCS bowls. However, the Cotton Bowl still has the name and was "once upon a time" one of the big four bowls. The new venue may bump it up to about the CapOne in prestiege and I'm reasonably happy that seems to be the most likely bowl for LSU right now.

Should it be confirmed, this will be LSU's 5th Cotton Bowl (which will tie us with Ole Miss in 8th place for appearances) and aTm's 12th, second overall. LSU is 2-1-1 in previous Cotton Bowl appearsances and aTm is 4-7. LSU is 26-20-3 against aTm overall, but only 7-9 over the past 16 appearances (beginning with the 1970 contest).

you are correct here is why the cotton is better.

1) BETTER VENUE
2) BETTER EXPOSURE..we play at night in prime time and are the only game on..not so if we play in crap one.
3) cotton has a much BETTER storied tradition than the crap one bowl..ok the crap one pays more.....but who really cares about it? NOBODY!

Fine - disagree but throw something in the discussion.

The Outback was the HOF - pays $3.3m

The Chick-fil-A was the Peach - pays $3m

The Cotton pays $3m

The CapOne was the Tangerine (G-d Bless Cholly Mac) - pays $4.25m

The CapOne pays the most money and has the worst venue. A private business takes the job that pays the most money every time.

What are your arguments, other than venue, that the CapOne isn't the most prestigious non-BCS bowl.

The Cap One is considered the best NonBSC bowl. The Cotton has gone done since the 80s.
