Even if an INT doesn't head back for a TD, it puts your defense in a bad spot in terms of field position most of the time. If we can't keep INT's to a minimum, I really think 2009 can be a much brighter year, especially down the stretch.
+1

Gave USC a short field and their first TD against OSU yesterday...definitely a game changer.

What I meant is it could be worse and he's not losing games. It is better than throwing it to the wrong team, no?

Well, sure. I think JJ is being efficient in certain situations. TT made his stats look a lot better against UW. Last night he got some short field help and KW really showed up in '06 form. I am behind JJ 100 percent and think he's a great talent and a leader, but he's not blowing the world away. Some of his passes are very poor. The first play from scrimmage for us last night - the pass attempt to LaFell - could have gone for major yards had he hit him, no?

I just would like to see JL come in for a DRIVE and see what happens. If he throws a pick 6, then I will say UNCLE. The funny thing is, JL won't be on the team next year, as he will transfer to a Sunbelt or FCS school. Still, he could be a plus factor on this team. This is a very vertical team with tall, fast WR's and we're not playing vertical. This is why C Mitchell and RJ Jackson are in so much...we're admitting to ourselves that we're not strong enough to do what we wanna do.

Eh, he's much better than Randall.

He will be. Not sure he is yet, though.

I'm not sure about that.

he seems pretty poised.

no doubt. I love that about him.

No doubt. He was running for his life way too much.

Pick 6's are game changers and momentum changers. We heaved one right off the bat against UGAly last year and that changed the complexion of that entire game, IMO. They were huge in other games as well.

B.S............we scored 7 next series that covered 80 yrds.

He threw a couple of passes that were right on the mark in the first quarter. His passing progressively got worse, so the rain could be a pretty good excuse. He's missing some reads, etc., but I'm just happy he's not forcing anything. He'll continue to get better.

I'm not being a dick, but too much of this 2008 part II mentality is going around. Last year was last year. Jamie Howard and Josh Booty bounced back. Why can't a kid who shouldn't have even had to play a down last year?

So that is the standard now for LSU quarterbacks? Just be better than Jarett Lee was in '08? Call me crazy, but I think we can do better than that.

Well, if the standard is being better than Jarrett Lee than we could even start Shepherd You can't do much worse as QB than what he did. JJ is playing fine at this point. Of course we expect him to improve, but I'm very satisfied with his play so far.

I'd actually rather him throw a pick or 2 if it meant we could actually throw the ball downfield.

ok......... so exactly how did it "change the complextion of the entire game" if we gave them 7 and came right back and got 7 to tie it up?

Not to mention all this within the first 5 mins of game.

Many picks are the shorter passes.

Not really there. We used to go to an LRA rodeo there though, way back in the day.

Just put it for shits & giggles.

Even Herb Tyler tried to chunk it downfield. Last night, we went sideline to sideline and used LaFell like he was Skyler Green.

As long as Chris Mitcehll and RJ Jackson are in the 4 and 5 wide pass formations (and God love them both), you are seeing the Wizard play close to the vest.

RR...guess he doesn't know the formations yet.

This is what I've been saying. I'm not calling for Lee to be put in the game (although getting him some time couldn't hurt if JJ doesn't start sliding more ) however there is NO doubt our offense is struggling right now. We haven't really had one good drive down the field yet with the exception of the last one against UW. It seems like we are playing a very lateral game and a very SAFE game.

I don't know whether the it is the playcalling or the ability though. Last year when teams would stack the box against us we would throw it down field. This year they stack the box so we run a screen for negative yards to lafell or have him run the option. Are they playing it safe or do they not have the faith in JJ's arm?

Again, this isn't slamming JJ by any means, just wondering if he has the arm yet.
